Impressive results, but completely useless to me until they're at least 512gb. Not dissing the op at all, as everyone uses their equipment differently, but 80gb would *kill* me.
no kidding

for a power user, in particular one that runs FCS2. 60gigs is barely enough for the FCS2 install :D

but hey if it works out for the OP, great. But I very much prefer a large capacity drive.

For performance and speed, I have a dedicated external hardware raid setup. But once the prices drop and capacity increases, I'll jump onboard.

Will newegg honor a new price within a certain time frame of you buying something, because I just bought the x25-m at 399 as well and I would love 30 dollars back. I think I might hit them up tommorow.

I had to register just to post to this- I've run with nearly the exact same setup (except I have the X25M 160GB model). Since I've replaced my previous HD, my blazing speed has been interrupted by lockup fits- just total freezes, and the only way i can usually unfreeze is by rebooting off of a FW800 drive, then rebooting with the FW drive unplugged. Pretty ghetto for a $800 drive.

Anyway, I called Intel CS today, and according to them, they've seen multiple cases of this and, of course, it's the SATA controller's fault (never mind that it works fine with the OEM drive). They'll replace it for me, but I want to hold off to see if it does any better in my unibody 17" that will be on my doorstep next week.

Anyway, I wanted to share- if there are any similar problems out there, please post to the board (despite Intel's claims, I have found no one with the same freezing issue that I've seen). If you do experience it, get that external drive ready for some ghetto-licious workarounds to revive it.

Mine runs fine. But i've only done the standard OS X install and installed creative suite with a bunch of misc. apps. I still have about 41 gigs available.

It seems like no matter what brand of SSD people have, their great speeds may also come with a few issues and hiccups. Just make sure to BACKUP REGULARLY when playing these!

Don't forget the fact that OSX isn't optimized for SSD either. So yea, no matter what SSD, there's bound to be some hiccups.

Also Corsair is just a rebadged Samsung mlc drive, probably the very same samsung drive that Apple used in previous generation laptops.

i have been using the corsair for almost 3 weeks and have not had one issue yet, no freezing , pauses , slow downs , reboots , kernal panics.

i think the corsair is a winner of a ssd.

i have owned the ocz core , solid - gskill titan , intel and the corsair.

i still have the intel and corsair. others are installed into media center / server ect.

but the corsair stays in the mbp because i have no issues with it.

that's mainly because of well designed controllers by Samsung and Intel which really does not need any tweaking in the OS to run out of the box, but i still think it could perform a lot better with an optimized OS.

All the crappy SSDs you talking about are using the same low quality crap JMicron controllers.

For those interested, I'll likely be buying this one within the next two weeks. It's ALMOST as fast as the OP's SSD in most tests and I believe slightly faster in a few. It's available for $500 here from Newegg.

Question to the OP - were you able to do any tests regarding power draw? I'm convinced about the performance, but I'm wondering if I will see any noticeable increase in battery life. Thanks!

Thats cheap for a ssd i may jsut have to buy that when summer rolls along:D
