lol yeah I did sorry..

oh okay... even if there is a jailbreak I don't want to jailbreak my phone... I heard it voids your warranty and if it makes my battery life even shorter I can't deal lol..

It voids your warranty if you send it back jailbroken. Revert back to stock 1st.

If you "armageddoned" it, well then, you may be up a creek.

JB'ing is not illegal and does not void the warranty. That being said, I certainly wouldn't want to give Apple ammunition to find a reason to void it. As posted, simply restore it and all will be fine.

I took a JB'd 3G in because of screen issues and the tech simply told me that he would restore it before he turned it in. Phone swapped...

As I also mentioned JB'ing does not really affect the battery. Running certain apps will but it is usually minimal.

A jail broken 4S????

Really....

Been covered already....

Uh here we go with the "it voids your warranty" thing...........5......4....3.....2......1......GO!

sorry I am not very knowledgable when it comes to available jailbreaks and stuff.. i assumed the guy had a 4S he might've had the 4?
Don't be sorry, you can't tell by looking. It's like a new car with a bigger engine and stronger headlights than last years model. You may not even notice when driving it.

Outside of the US you can. A lot of countries don't have CDMA so the 4S would have the extra antenna breaks. But that's only if they don't haw a case on

well i suppose it depends on what you want.

Apple are behind in terms of features but do they need to implement them to sell units? probably not. It becomes dangerous when their user base becomes more informed and starts expecting features that iphones don't have. People like you might start looking at android devices as they have all the features of a jailbroken iphone (and more) out the box.

but wouldn't make these features available AND superior would make the iPhone excel when compared to other phones? Especially Androids?

Yes, but Apple wants to maintain control of the platform. By opening up a lot of this, it would eat phone resources with the possibility of making it lag and people would be upset with that. However, in the JB community we tinker until we find the right combination.

Apple only gives you what Apple thinks you need. This keeps things simple.

as above, its all about the "apple experience". Its built on being super slick and responsive. Its served them well and you dont hear many complaining about their iphone experience.

i dont think they want to risk the polish ios has. be interesting to see what they do in future though.

If you bring your jailbroken phone into an apple store they probably won't service it.

HOWEVER, if you restore your jailbroken phone there is no way an Apple genius can tell it was jailbroken. I know because I exchanged my old jailbroken iphone 4 recently at an apple store because of a finicky home button. I restored it prior to heading to the store and they replaced it on the spot.

And as for your comment about battery life: this was not an issue with jailbreaking the iphone 4, though it may have been a problem with earlier iPhones... (Just as with apps on the iPhone like Pandora and GPS, it's the APPS you RUN on the phone that kills its battery life - so if you run a video wallpaper all day on your jailbroken phone of course it will affect battery)

You can add me to the list of people patiently waiting for a jailbreak for the 4S. I really miss SBSettings, and the ability to quickly turn on/off bluetooth and wifi. Apple could easily add this functionality to the notification window...

Bad battery life on a jailbroken iPhone: "Because it's jailbroken, which kills your battery...plus it voids your warranty"

But...

Horrible battery life on a non-jailbroken iPhone: "Apple will release a fix soon" or "because it has a more powerful processor" or "because there's more features" or "shut-off your battery percentage and just enjoy your phone".
