Wanted to play with ARKit.
Worth it so far, but I’ve been very lucky with iOS11 I think, I’ve managed to avoid the worst bugs (can’t say the same for previous OSes)
On a 6s+ and fine and dandy so far.

I already established iOS isn't perfect previously in this thread and nor is that the point behind my Post your quoting. IOS 12, 13, 14, etc won't be perfect either and you will have those chastising concerns on a tech forum, because that's where discussion Thrives the most with imperfections with each version. Not to mention, it's usually the negatives discussed more often, then praising the positives about iOS.

(And your iOS 9 example, I never has issues at all when on any of my devices with that version.)

However, revisiting the quote stated by the member I quoted:

"it's a matter of lousy software that was pushed out too early."

My point is, that poster commented on iOS being "Pushed" to early. iOS traditionally releases the same time every year, so it's negated when it's when it was said it was "To early" when it's not if it releases the same time accordingly. Now, if a specific version of iOS has issues being reported, that doesn't make it early or premature, it makes it a
lackadaisical and apathetic release. Significant difference.

Lastly, iOS 11 has 47% adoption rate according to reports last week. iOS sometimes Can appear a bigger issue on a tech forum then it is in the real world. I'm not saying iOS 11 was Apples best release, because it likely wasn't. But on a tech form, it's vastly more a problem for many, then it is in the real world for every day iPhone consumers that likely have no issue for the millions who have downloaded it. I have no metric for my analogy, but I can at least use myself for example, which I have occurred no inconsistencies.
No man, I wasn't disagreeing with you. I was just pointing out that since at least iOS 8 Apple has had some issues with releases. That doesn't make it beta or lousy, or as the other poster mentioned, something to be released later when Apple polished it up.

But it does make me wonder a bit. I can't speak for pre-iOS 5 because that's before my time but I don't remember much issues with iOS 6 or 7.

iOS 6 update bricked my 4s, and I hadn’t done a backup in months. Learned my lesson.

I don't disagree that iOS 11 has been stellar. But do you think you would have better experiences using a different operating platform? And ultimately leaving behind the quality of the product from Apple just because of iOS 11? The way I see it, Apple isn't perfect and neither is their software. But They continually release updates to rectify the issues that some are experiencing, in which we receive iOS updates more regularly than you would with other competitors.

Not strictly true is it, given that core apps on android update through the app store, whereas iOS needs whole software updates before core apps get bug-fixes, and a whole YEAR before they are radically updated.

I've had the rotation issue since iOS 10.

This reply is intended as a serious reply. Thank you.
Same. Every time I unlock my phone it rotates into landscape mode and then back to portrait. I don’t get it. I’m holding it straight up and down so it shouldn’t do this. Even a restore and set up as new didn’t help.

Why did all of you update to iOS 11 so soon? What feature(s) did you need to put yourself through this Gamma testing hell?

Of course my 6s is buttery smooth with awesome battery life since it's on 9.3.5
I needed it to run my new Apple Watch.

I find it's smoothing out more with each incremental update but I wonder if it's going worse for 6s and earlier models because they don't have 3gb of ram to help out. Just wondering.

My 6S+ is on 9.0.2 with the last tethered Jailbreak. It runs super smooth too!

A DFU won't fix issues inherent to the OS itself.

iOS 11 is a buggy mess that should still be in beta. When droves of people have the same issues, it's not a matter of "No, it's your fault for doing something, you should do a total DFU restore!", it's a matter of lousy software that was pushed out too early.

You nailed it. This is the very definition of crapware. I would go further and state that it was deliberate however. Clearly it was. This is an attempt to get those wearing blinders to mindlessly upgrade phones that, prior to the crapware "upgrade" worked perfectly!

Well guess what Apple...most are not that stupid to blindly accept your crapware. Either fix it or let the class action start.

I have that happen as well. Really irritating.

Restore and set up as new. Should help.
Well I for one never experienced bad updates until this one. I mean no software is perfect but tons of bugs where it hangs and I can't use the phone or can't answer the phone or can't open an app. I don't recall experiencing any of these bugs and I've been an iphone user since gen 1.

It strange. I hear of these issues, but never had a problem. I installed iOS 11 beta 1 and although it was a bit glitchy with some stutters and weird app behavior, nothing major. Since about beta 5 on, it's been perfect for me.

I swear my phone hangs and freezes. Maybe i should restore but its so annoying to reconfigure a new phone.

Since IOS 11 my 6Plus battery has been way down from IOS 10 levels. Startup is slower. Also, camera lags badly when taking a pic, especially when first using it.

Still don't understand why a landscape orientation for some camera recorded images can only be viewed in portrait mode. Requires a manual rotation either on the phone or computer to reorient to correct perspective. Screen orientation can become stuck at times in landscape. Also, apps open more slowly. Fortunately, I don't have any sync problems, and messages works pretty well too.

A lot of the weird IOS problems seem to have begun when Forstall was shown the door and Apple decided minimalism was a good idea.

I see a lot of defense these days for iOS. Yes, it is better than the alternatives. I love Apple, but I don't understand why they can't get iOS 11 (hell, iOS7-11) to be as solid as iOS 6 was...I mean the phones are more powerful, yet the OS is sluggish as hell comparatively speaking. It doesn't make sense to me.
