When you graduate to the big leagues you know where to go to get the information that Apple "isn't" telling the general public.

What an asinine comment. And what secret information can you share with us from the "big leagues" where you obviously must be, that you have, but none of the rumors sites have, and you aren't sharing with them?

Not asinine.

developer.apple.com

Just like people graduate from High School and enter a facility of Higher Learning Apple has areas where those so inclined can delve a bit deeper into the technology.

If people on these boards are forming opinion based on what's on apple.com they must filter said opinion through the appropriate lens. Apple is marketing what can be understand by the masses without much deep thought.

In particular iOS 6 is an OS update lean on low hanging easy to understand technology and a bit heavier on the future leaning foundation support.

Fair enough - just not informative then, and respecting NDA too :) I'm sorry. I was too quick to snip at you

That said I'm an apple dev and unfortunately had a really hard time being excited about much that they were offering, although a couple frameworks are getting a lot more useful and I think you'll see some overall improvements on apps as a result of that. When people get around to adopting it.

It's good that Apple is in the refinement stage now. Even though they are extra conservative on display size, the one constant is refinement. There's a lot to be said for continuing to improve a little at a time.

In the beginning there were opportunities for exciting big improvements, but as with any other product, there comes a time when it reaches maturity and the gains are smaller. There's nothing wrong with that.

There's nothing wrong with not being excited either, it proves that the platform is doing what it's supposed to do. And as other posters have said, we can buy Android for the modern sized spacious displays they offer.

I must have more than one MBP or MBA to do all the things I want to do under the various conditions when traveling working in a lab or office where portability is not important.

So in my case I have enjoyed and preferred to have two lines and two phones as my regular daily carry. It's fun, it's a way to enjoy variety, and it's a great way to have it all. There is no perfect phone or laptop anyway. :)

I didn't perceive your snip I thought what you said was legit. I'm just delving into things and haven't learned Obj C yet but even my fledgling knowledge shows me that Mountain Lion and iOS 6.0 are more about polish. I can't point to one thing that would make the developer sit up, take notice and say "this changes everything"

That being said I think that is coming. There really needs to be an improved way of sending data between apps using the OS. Something that opens doors to more possibilities because of the power and ease yet security is still intact. Color me impressed if Apple finds the proverbial "better mousetrap"

Agreed on multiple levels and this is where I want to see the "Science" in Computer Science take hold and move to new areas. I don't think screens need to be humongous but I think there's a market for

Slim smarphones - 4" being the norm

Medium -4.3-4.6"

Large 4.7" and above

Apple should be capturing at least two of these ranges IMO.

Nothing in iOS 6 is worth upgrading for my iPhone 4.

-No Turn-by-turn navigation
-No FaceTime over 3G

Hopefully we're gonna see cool stuff at Apple's next event.

Taller screen won't do it for me.

There needs to be some kind of UI change, improved Notification Center, a really cool Passbook feature for iOS 6.

I'm honestly thinking of getting a Galaxy Nexus (just to try Android again because when I tried it pre ICS...it was poop, but now it looks really good.)

It's more about the tweaks for me. I would have loved something much different (visually, etc.) but they did address many of my "under-the-hood" pet peeves.

Yawn! There are so many threads on this topic already! I can't be arsed discussing this very tired topic...

But you can quote it. Please tell me how it feels to be so amazingly superior and witty as you. Hopefully one day my humor and sarcasm will be as awesome as yours. It must be real boring up there on your horse to have to deal with us little people down here. I wish I was so precious that I couldn't be bothered with other people's opinions yet still comment like it didn't bother me. Your irony is spot on. Thx for playing.

After two days of using the iPhone 5, I am now much more excited about how the device will fit into my lifestyle than I had been prior to the launch. The speed of LTE is a game changer and the 4" screen feels much less cramped while still allowing for one hand operation. I'm happy...
