I know. I'm always anal. Anal is fun.
I see you also like tetherballs? :D hahahaha anyway I have a clear crack between the bezel and headphone port , only using the headphone port 3 times! BUT the screen is good the body is good, So I'm gonna wait til something worse arises to exchange it ( but I see what you're saying ) you should get what you pay for, quality not anal cracking...

Make a Genius Bar appt and take it in. They know about the issue and will replace it. I've done it twice. For what you paid for it, do what you want. IMO.

Rolling on my 3rd week with a white iPhone 3GS and yet, no signs of anything...

Just wondering how you treat your phones to get these cracks?

There's a small crack about 2mm long just to the right of the sleep/wake button. Weird thing is, it's not touching any of the edges...it doesn't touch the bezel and it doesn't touch the sleep/wake button, it's just there and I have no idea how it could've appeared. This phone was a replacement that I received two days ago. Would you return it? Paying $500 for something that's cracked, although small, doesn't make me too happy.

Just go and return the thing, there several stupid threads like this. If your old enough to get your own iphone, your old enough to know what will make you happy. If everyone who post here told you no, don't return it, would you actually listen?

Some people (not all cuz they are some friendly users) on this forum are really not helpful and are plain dousche bags. the guy asked a question. dont go off on him. who the hell do you think you are talking to someone like you know them? anyways.......my suggestion is that you go into the apple store and swap it out if it bothers you that much. easy as that. get a case if you dont have one.

I would take it back. Also, for those who have to be rude because he asked a question about a "hairline crack" just save yourself some time and not type anything. We PAY good money to buy Apple products and if we pay GOOD money then we shouldn't settle for anything less than perfect. True that most likely another one will tend to have one but I would keep going and going until I get one without any. For those who say stop being so "anal" and that say "i have 8 hairline cracks..." and etc. then that's your opinion and doesn't mean your opinion applies to everyone else.

Bottom line, if you don't like the hairline cracks then just take it back unless you know you did it by dropping it or something :)

I ditto this post. well said :) if you have something negative to say, just dont respond and drown in your own misery.

The negativity probably comes from the fact that there is a search function that enables people to see what others on the forum have experienced with hairline cracks. Secondly, if a person has a product they are dissatisfied with and they have the ability to return it, why waste time posting, get it returned and get satisfaction.

For you crack viewing pleasure...

I baby my phone. It's always in its suede case when not being used. Never dropped either.

Most of the posters in the other thread LLL1424 is referring to (at least that's where his anger seems to be coming from) were not being rude as he says, or "douche" (the correct spelling) bags, they were just stating their opinions. It is obvious that LLL1424 just wanted everyone to tell him what he wanted to hear. What you mean by being helpful is just that, to tell you what you want to hear. If that's what he comes onto forums for, well then I guess I don't understand why he bothers. Anyway, congrats on getting what you wanted in the other thread and being able to get a new iPhone for your few cracks on the screen.

As far as the "we shouldn't settle for anything less than perfect," well there's other threads about that too. I'm not that opinionated about that issue as some, but I also don't feel I have to have the perfect iPhone, at least where cracks are concerned. It's just a phone. But, that's my opinion and you are surely entitled to yours.

i had a griffen case on my 3g and i dropped the phone and it got a 3/4in crack in the back plastic at the bottom and i took it to the apple store and said it just "happened over time". I lied, but they gave me a new one no problem at all. :D it was awesome.

Oh goodie for you. I'll let the moral police take care of you.

I was in the same boat as most of the posters on here...thinking 'its just a hairline crack' but an Apple genius advised me to swap my phone out immediately as these cracks tend to grow bigger over time.

Also now you have a valid excuse to swap the phone, if you drop it or crack the glass or trip the water sensor or it becomes glitchy...that problem supersedes your hairline crack issue voiding your warranty and leaving you SOL

I really don't think it's anal to want a $200-$700 device to start off, out of the box, as close to perfect as possible. I just don't understand why people jump down someone's throat because they want there iPhone not to come with cracks. It's pretty ridiculous for such an expensive phone to spontaneously crack.

I've made up my mind...I'm going to return it. I wouldn't mind so much if it were a cheapo $50 Nokia, but a top of the line $500 phone is something totally different.

Did you really need a forum for that. I knew your were going to return it 2 hours ago.

i exchanged mine yesterday. out of the box, there were cracks at the headphone jack, camera, speakers, and silent switch. there was even a small chunk taken out of the chrome. honestly, i'm not picky at all. i never exchanged my 3g and i got one of the early batches that apparently had a lot of problems. i wouldn't have minded if these cracks happened over the time (as long as they didn't effect how the phone worked) but it's the fact that it came like that made me exchange it.
