I have a similar question, I just got this:

Powermac g4 Quicksilver
Dual 800mhz processors
1.5gb ram
Geforce 2 mx

The system has panther installed, but would it be possible to get leopard on it? I have seen workaround for the 867mhz leopard requirement, but would it be even worth it. Unfortunately I do not have any tiger discs, but do have an extra leopard install. What do you guys think?

I think you would be very surprised how fast you can run Leopard on your system. However I would do some small upgrades.
Your graphic card is most likely the worst bottleneck you have and it does not support Quarz Extreme and Core Image.
If you would have a card that does, it would reduce your CPU load tremendous. You wouldn't believe what that card could do to your system..
