Yep, and it's not for every message (in iOS6). It's one for every chunk of conversation, usually one time stamp every 20-30 minutes or so. But it doesn't show one for every single message.

No but the OP said one had to "hold down on the convo screen and move your finger from right to left" to see every time stamp. An option that can't be done in iOS 6.
Right, in iOS 6 there's no option to see timestamps for every message, while in iOS 7 that option has been added.
