Okay, trying to be positive here... Maybe he bought them at a lost property auction?

Oh, hang on, look what Google turned up: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7452674?start=0&tstart=0

Maybe that's it: Lost and then locked by their original owners? Not claimed and then legitimately sold in an auction to someone like your seller who then tried to re-sell on eBay?

There's another factor that makes this a bit more of a mystery, the devices sold by this seller were non functional. Why would someone who just bought an Apple Watch in October and now has an error just get rid of it instead of having it replaced? Doesn't make sense to me either, but it is what it is.

Okay, well if you can spring for $399, Best buy is selling a "Series 0" 38mm SBSS with link band. New. They must've got more clearance stock from Apple?

(The Apple link band is awesome, BTW. If it wasn't 38mm only I'd buy another one for myself at that price)
Nah, I'm sticking to Series 1 in my bargain hunting. If you know what you're doing on ebay, you can score some incredible deals as I have in the past.

If he was selling activation locked watches at all, that should give you a major red flag that they're stolen.

Report him and move on!

Word of advise from someone who has been on eBay since 98 it's not worth the trouble. eBay and the scum that run it do not use any emails as evidence if your thinking of using it and most of the time it's a scammer who has figured out the system. Your much better off doing face to face transactions through apps like letgo or Craigslist.

Report him for what? Selling activation locked watches is allowed on ebay, and he gave me all my money back. As a matter of fact, I gave him positive feedback for being so responsive and honest.

If you know what you're doing on ebay and pay with the proper methods, you have zero risk. I have had nothing but positive experience on ebay. My account is 15 years old as well, I'm only 27 so it started out as my dad's account when I was 12 and he eventually transferred control of it to me when I was of age.

I think everybody's experience will vary, depending on what their purchasing and of course if they research the seller. But I would have to agree, eBay has become horribly fraudulent and there are too many loopholes in the system. And now with buyer protection, six months through PayPal, the buyer has nothing to lose. Especially with electronics, you have to be extremely cautious.

Did you know that there is no such policy in no returns. This is the scum I'm talking about with eBay. You can say no returns till your blue in the face and eBay will clearly tell you that you can return anything to any seller. So don't give me the "know what your doing" nonsense. There are many other so called policies eBay claims they have and I can go on and on about the crap that goes on but you do what you want. Good luck with that watch your about to buy!

Oh and for all the others that don't know this, Puerto Rico is considered a us address so make sure you exclude it in your free shipping or else you will be in for a surprise.

And your covered under Pay Pals six Months buyer protection if something else were to go wrong or the seller wasn't honest. Did the Watch ship yet?

You cannot file a buyer protection claim 6 months after receipt and claim its broken. You can file a claim if you discover they product was not actually as advertised. The longer you wait for some protections, the less likely PayPal will back you as a buyer. Buyer protection is not a warranty.

Lol. Sorry you had bad eBay experiences. I've had good ones. I don't need luck, I take proper precautions. That applies to all aspects of life. ;)

Another Update!!

I got an incredible deal. Series 1 42mm Black for $200, free shipping. Box and all accessories included.

I checked the serial number on it and the seller has been very responsive and quick to provide it after I committed to purchase. She also has a great feedback score and a 7 year old account. I also guided her through the process of removing her iCloud lock. I have now verified that the iCloud lock is OFF. It's been in a case since she bought it and has a screen protector so it's in pristine condition.

The seller actually had it listed as a first gen Sport but as soon as I looked at the photos I saw that it said "Series 1" on the back of it. Looks like the seller is a tad oblivious and didn't know she could have gotten about $50 more for it. I guess this is a situation of her loss is my gain. It may not be the "deal of a lifetime", but it's sure as hell a great deal!

Which is why you proved my point with fraud. The buyer has six months after the fact to make a claim stating the product is defective or stopped working. There have been countless threads on here regarding this on eBay or Swappa. That said, the likeliness of fraud at its highest is with 48 hours, if the buyer claims the product was not in the box or carrier locked, damaged, non-operable, etc. Pay Pal will likely side with the buyer most times, being there is no way to truly prove what really happened. The seller has to go through multiple hurdles to prove what went wrong. Since the extension of the six months protection, it's been a fraudulent nightmare for some since the altered policy change.

Baby forum members have been victimized because if it. Which is why I no longer sell on eBay for those very reasons.

Nice. You did your homework. Let us know how it goes through when you receive it. Any scratches on the casing?

Judging by the description and photos, no. It's supposed to be in pristine condition. Thankfully the seller had one of those tacky plastic cases and screen protectors on it since she bought it on September 29th.

I asked the seller to ship it to where I work, I should be receiving it Friday according to the tracking number. Fingers crossed!

Sales tax in New Jersey is 7%. If I bought it from Apple for $299, it would have come out to $320. This would be a $120 savings, pretty significant.

Post a picture when you receive it. This time of year, people are out to sell products somewhat cheaper, being they want the extra money for the Holidays. In my opinion, this is the time to find something you want online with great deals.

I'll definitely post pictures. I'm just amazed this person had a Series 1 and mistook it for an S0.

That's strange and odd in the same instance. It makes me think The seller is selling the Apple Watch for someone else or has no knowledge of what they are actually selling. Or, worst case scenario, is if it was legitimately stolen and they have no knowledge of the product, trying to sell it. But then again, you had the deactivation lock removed. What Are your thoughts on that?

If she was able to remove the iCloud lock with ease there's no way it's stolen. I had to guide her through the process though because she wasn't sure how to do it at first and didn't realize she had to. After she said it was done, I checked the serial number on Apple's iCloud lock page and confirmed it was deactivated. That makes me think she's just not a very tech savvy person and just figured she had a first gen Apple Watch.

That makes sense. And most seem to confuse Series 1 with the first generation Apple Watch. That's why I always label it first generation Apple Watch over Series 0.

I personally don't think Apple did anyone any favors with labeling the Apple Watch Series 1 and Series 2. I know there was a lot of confusion at first.

Oh absolutely. Naming a second generation product "Series 1" is just cruel. If you go on ebay, at least 75% of watches labeled "Series 1" are actually first generation watches and the owners just assumed that Series 1 means "the older model" so they list them under that category.

I can only imagine what a nightmare that would be receiving the wrong product based off a name. Then you have to contact the seller and they likely think that you are scamming them. That is, if they even except the return to begin with.

Ok my friends, the day has come. Was supposed to come tomorrow but came a day early. Wonderful condition, couple of light scratches on the screen but meh. $200 for a good condition S1 Apple Watch, amazing deal. I'm a happy little camper.

Just notifications and seeing the weather at a glance on my watch face. Nothing major really, I actually don't use any of the fitness features even though I work out. To me it's just a watch, but the best watch ever.

Greatest mini review on here. That's exactly how I use my Watch. Fantastic.
