I just sold my black 32gb wifi iPad for $490 on eBay. I'm already going through withdrawal symptoms. Can't wait for the iPad 3!

My wife and I both sold our original iPad 1 32 GB wi-fi models for $300 each last week. I was very happy to get that much for it, but it's going to be a long few weeks without it!

I recently got my 16gb wifi replaced at the Genius bar (came in some brown box) so I decided to sell it as new on CL. someone is willing to buy for $420. is it a good price?

You guys are lucking out with your prices.

I think that those deals will be going away soon. Microcenter is selling new iPad 2 16Gb's for $450.

@wtiger91: considering your buyer could order a refurb from Apple for $420 (plus tax) and get a full warranty, that's a pretty good price.

Jut a thought though - "new" and "like new" are two different things. If you told me it was new, I'd be expecting at least eleven months warranty remaining and would be a bit ticked off to find out differently when I checked it before completing the sale.

@SporkLover: similar thing happened last year - lots of reports of really good prices received. While fully legitimate, they're also the self-selected sample of people who succeeded in finding desperate or poorly informed buyers and not indicative of the more mainstream used pricing.

sold 32 gb wifi $500

This morning sold my White 32GB wifi & remaining applecare til 3/20/13 on CL for $500. I accepted my 2nd email offer yesterday and just got done with the exchange. The lady even lived less than 2 miles from my house. I had it on ebay and CL simultaneously, I ended the Ebay auction which had zero bids on it at the moment and am pleased that CL was an easy transaction. Also Im happy about the fact of not paying ebay/paypal fees which would have been over $50.

My wife is choosing to keep her iPad 2 so I guess I will bogart hers til 3 comes out.:p

Sold my 32GB wifi for $450 on CL.

Considering the refurb from Apple costs $500 (plus tax) with a 1 year warranty I think we both made out decently.

Also 16GB refurbs are $419 straight from Apple, so those that got more than that are pretty lucky that their buyers don't know about the internet :D

I'm just going to wait till I get the new one... Then I'll sell. ebay gets me top dollar and potential thieves... I'' be patient and use CL.

So let's say that a 16GB Wifi iPad 2 is currently worth around $400.

What are we looking at in terms of the next few weeks? I'm just trying to figure out when I should sell. Guesses?

Today = $400
2/29 - Invites For iPad 3 Event Go Out = ?
3/7 - iPad 3 Announced = ?
3/16 - iPad 3 Released = ?

It will never be worth more than it is worth today.

If this year follows last year's pattern you'll see an ever increasing flood of ipad2's for sale between invites go out and announcement, thus depressing resale prices due to oversupply. If Apple again sharply cuts prices on the current models and refurbs to clearance them out, that price shock will affect resale prices quickly.

I don't remember resale prices rebounding much or soon, eventually they did to a degree but Apple seemed to have a lot of refurbs for sale thereby keeping the used market depressed. (Using an iPad1 as example; Consider that a 16GB Wifi+3G iPad1 is $399 as refurb right now; originally $629. From a buyer's perspective consider that Apple refurbs come with new battery, new shell, and 1 year warranty, how much would you anticipate getting for used out of warranty unit?)

When I sold my first ipad, for the 2nd gen I felt so sorry for the polish dude that came and bought it.. He came round and bought it on the day it was officialy announced lol! Got £340.. Pretty good £60 to upgrade a generation

I felt bad for my guy also. He's just a dad who had been searching Craigslist for a month for a good deal so he could buy an iPad for his family. I mean, I gave him a cheap iPad in good condition but he could have gotten a new/refurb for cheaper probably if he waited.

amazing the supply and demand swing on these things.....

On December 21st I sold my iPad 1.....yes....1st Gen iPad 16GB for $460+$15 for shipping....

Just sold my 16 gb wifi white iPad 2 for $450

6 months old, in perfect condition, original box and cables, plus 3 cases (1 book jacket, 2 back cover snap ons)

was originally thinking would only get $400 so I'm very happy

yes, there is a supply/demand swing any time people are awaiting a new apple release...

but your case is more of you found a fool to sell your iPad to.

He could have bought a refurb iPad 2 from apple for less than he paid you, and could have found an iPad 1 for around $300-$350. You also have to consider, maybe he didn't know there was a difference between iPad 1 and 2 and thought $460 was a good deal because it's $40 less than brand new(ipad 2). Anyone who got more than $400 for a used iPad 1 got extremely lucky that they found a complete sucker to purchase their iPad.

just listed my iPad2 black 16gb+verizon 3G on CL with a smart cover and ZUM SC ultimate back cover. I posted for 575(doubt i'll get that) have an offer from a friend for 450 but am going to see if I can do better on CL first. I can't decided if i should keep my zagg logitech keyboard case. If the iPad 3 looks anything like the leaks i might be able to use it with that.

Today = $400
2/29 - Invites For iPad 3 Event Go Out = 350-400 (there will be those fools who doesn't know the invites are out)
3/7 - iPad 3 Announced = 300-350
3/16 - iPad 3 Released = 300

Meh, just my guess.

I think those estimates are too low. I could only agree with those estimates if Apple changes the base storage to 32gb for $500.

Currently, the iPad 1 is almost worth $300 so there's no way the iPad 2 can just suddenly drop to that price in a couple weeks.

Refurbished 16GB iPad2s are $419 right now, new ones $500. Last year Apple cut ipad1 prices by $100 and refurb prices by nearly that much.

If this repeats, you'll see ipad2 16gb wifi units clearanced from Apple at $400, refurbs at $330-$350.

Guess the effect on private sales.

I don't think that's true but feel free to provide facts to back that statement that Apple cut the price of the iPad 1 and sold it new (not refurbished) for $400. I don't remember Apple ever doing that for any product following an update.
