Smooth and simple. A truly unique next generation smartphone OS.

I hope you enjoy it OP. I've not seen a smoother smartphone OS than WP7 on my Titan.

I think the WP interface looks better than iOS and Android. It looks very modern and fresh. WP 8 will probably bring even more features to have it on par with iOS and Android.

This much I do agree with. My wife had a WP before she made the switch and I definitely liked the WP OS.

6 months ago,I did the same thing.I ditched my iPhone 4 for a HTC Titan and now I've returned to iOS.
WP7 is very smooth, the live tiles are awesome and the deep FB/Twitter integration is great but it's got some cons as well.First of all,the notification system simply sucks. You can't read anything on the lock screen(only a part of your messages but no email etc.). Multitasking isn't great either.I never liked the multitasking of iOS devices but this is even worse.Last but no the least, the market place is a total mess.Almost none of the apps work like their iOS/Android versions and the "search" function desperately needs some changes.
And finally,WP8 is around the corner and may not work on current WP7 devices.

Can't blame You guys. iOS is getting old, i hope the 6.0 will bring something "new". If not my new phone will be running Windows Phone 8. Lumia or Xperia are awesome phones tbh.

I too was intrigued by windows phones as I like the whole tile interface. Not enough to leave the iOS world though as I have so much invested and everything is syncing in harmony...... But I had a friend of mine lend me his Lumia (he works for AT&T and tries out all new phones so he has 3 or 4 phones at a time) I used it for 4 days and by the third day the fascination was gone and I was bored to death.... Once I got past setting up email, facebook and a few other familiar apps there was just nothing to do on the phone so I got really bored with it..... I know I didnt have much time to experiment and most people will say you can pretty much do most things that you can do on the iPhone.... But before anyone jumps down my throat I am not bashing the windows phone just giving my brief and personal experience YMMV

I would consider trying out Window phone IF CANADA actually got us CURRENT phones! Lumia 800 is being hailed like its a great thing FINALLY coming and yet the 900 is already out with much better reviews.....

sigh...

I am practically panting for a new fresh OS to play around with but not just gonna jump on any phone. I will wait til the SSGS3 arrives and by then we should have a hint of what Apple's OS is going to look like.

/crosses fingers

I gave the HTC Titan a try back in December, but after a week I ended up coming back to iOS. As fresh and cool as Mango is, it's not enough yet. The major apps are there, but the Marketplace is still anemic compared to the App Store, and lacks quite a bit of apps I use daily. Also, there's no guarantee Apollo will work on current generation phones, which is a total bummer. I find myself tempted to get a cyan Lumia 900 sometimes, but then I think about it rationally and it's just not "there" yet. Do you guys get what I'm saying?

I've only had a play on a couple of Windows Phone 7 handsets, but it looked quite nice, ran smoothly, and I could find my way around easily. If I was to leave iOS, it would be for something different, which WP7 is.

My choice would be the Nokia Lumia 800 as it is just the right size, and is a great looking handset.

Coming from the iPhone, the Lumia 900 is quite large at first, but I found that after a few days, it seems to fit quite nicely in my hands and actually feels better to hold than the comparatively tiny iPhone.

It looks like the OP made note of the Wake Up campaign and went for Samsung instead of RIM.

Enjoy your phone!

Initial impressions were i didn't find the interface very intuitive

For example, you had to swipe right to discover new things. It was the discovery element i didn't like. After a series of swipes you feel your navigating through a maze of screens with no obvious way back.

However, that is a first impression, in time you would learn the different ways around the OS and the different gestures.

It does look a little more fresh but i did feel the enormous headings for key screens wasted a load of screen space.

I probably prefer it to some flavours of Android and iOS does need a visual refresh but i still much prefer the functionality of iOS.

Its a good job MS did and i think iOS could borrow a couple of functions. But for me iOS is still the best tool for the job, phone and tablet.

There is a big arrow that points right when on the tile page and left when on the app list. Beyond those two screens, there is no navigation to get lost in - unless you are in an app.

Besides, there is always the back or Windows button.

I went through this EXACT cycle of logic/reasoning.

Enticing, tempting but not worth cheating for.

You compare the most horrid OS known to man to Windows 7 mobile? You need to get out more. I can see you're really open to new things.

It may be like comparing Mac OS 9 with OS X, but someone who has never tried both will never know. It's common to be biased by one's first impression, which in some cases can be quite unfair.

it'd be way better if a windows phone was bought and the iPhone retained.
can't compare the too as they are poles apart. I am simply giving my opinion so don't make this a windows vs iOS comparison. why eliminate the iOS from the equation when all the best apps come up on your iPhone and not your windows mobile....

and congratulations are in order so have fun with your new toy

That's one of my biggest gripes about WP7.5. The lack of apps is killing it. I don't mean that it needs to have 500K apps or anything, but it would be nice if I could have the Discover app, the Chase app, etc. I got a Motorola Atrix but sold that pile when it stopped working (btw, i've never had any luck with Motorola, so i think i'm done with them) and got a WP7. I gave my iPhone 4 to my wife and can't get it back since she loves it. So I got a Samsung Focus and while it's great for what it is, it's missing that little bit to get it over the top.

What's great about WP7.5? It's' Super Smooth and the Live tiles are awesome. I also like the way it handles multi-tasking. Kinda reminds me of WebOS. What's not so great? Lack of apps and the fact that I can't have a different sound profile for my games and my ringer! That is the deal breaker for me!

I`m glad you see my view point. I agree with you on some aspects of performances and end user utility. Theres so much you can do with a windows phone.

I've owned a Titan for a few months now and the only apps I'm missing are a local bus app and Angry Birds in Space. For literally anything else I need there is a web app or a decent alternative. And the screen size is too good to pass up.

I haven't regretted selling my iPhone once.

It's kinda frustrating at the same time since I can see the potential yet it has yet to be realized. I hope it can survive since it's a pretty good platform to build off of.

it's going to take some time to mature and I hope OP can help us realise what we're really missing. I am also apologetic that his iPhone was acting up for all this to begin with.
