70-80 WPM. Sometimes 90. I'm in 7th grade too:cool: . I finished the typing program about 5 days ahead of my Computer Apps class, so I just messed around w/ notepad (not Textedit, the horror!) making little websites (the teacher had a website-making book).

edit: when I type for an hour or more I start to type slower. Probally down to 50 WPM.

Faster than a speeding bullet.

What app do you use to check this? I'd kinda like to know just how fast my speeding bullet fingers can go. This could get dirty pretty quickly...

3 years ago when I was in 8th grade my middle school computer teacher had a ranking list on the wall with WPM.. I got it with 110 wpm and as far as I know no one has ever beat it.

That typing test is evil. I just could get up to 58WPM with an accuracy of 98%. I tried twice and I posted the best result.

took the typing test (wizard of oz one) and got 81wpm gross, 74 net. (10th grade, microsoft ergonomic keyboard. i go faster on a regular keyboard but those have started to hurt my hands after long periods) :/

it said something like 25 words maybe less ... lol

i guess if you are looking for a career as someone's assistant when you grow up, and will be expected to take down someone's dictations, you might need to be up in the 110 range like some of you keyboard jockeys in here ;)

Around 100 on the iBook keyboard and 120 on the Apple White one.

Only for like 5 minutes though, then my wrists KILL. :(

I got 69 words per minute with 98% accuracy on my g3 ibook with a bad keyboard. I'm in High School and never took typing classes. Actually I recalled I was the worst typer in my lower school but that is besides the point.

I just wanted to see how fast other people can type.

Me-109.3 words per minute
(and I'm only in 7th grade :) )

This topic is fun!

Ah, do your classmates gape in awe at your ability? :)

I was always the geek of the class, but when we went to the computer lab, I was a king. My peers would surround me and watch my typing... none of them really could, since it was like 3rd grade. My top speed was 140wpm back then, but it was easy material. ;)

It is interesting that after all these years, I can't get 160wpm or something. I guess our hands have limits. One of these days I'd like to learn Dvorak. Yup, I'm still a geek.

A guy I know has a PowerBook with the Dvorak layout... I have no idea where he got it. Maybe he took off all the keys and rearranged them. :p

Here are your full test results:

- Gross Speed: 121 WPM
- Errors: 2
- Accuracy: 98%

- NET SPEED: 119 WPM

65. because I'm crap.
and on a laptop kb.

BUT, in BCIS, we aren't allowed to use the backspace (it's there for a friggin' reason!!) it's more like 40 because I have to actually type correctly first time.

QWERTY was designed to be inefficient..

/too lazy to
//lay out her KB
///in dvorak

Meh...not too bad, I suppose. It's a little tricky since once you space, there's no going back. Still, like KT mentioned, at least you can correct.
*bad memories of old computer classes*

neat test on that typingtest.com site...

98 wpm with 93% accuracy. i need to go slower to type with more accuracy. ;)

i type pretty fast when i am on macrumors and i pretty much ignore the shift key...and yes, i make a lot of mistakes here but i don't really care since it's not being graded :)
