49-55 W/M after a few tests. Generally reasonable accuracy, but meh... I feel slow when seeing some of you can type so fast, like a word every .5 seconds. :(

I dunno.

Somewhere in the 70-90 range. Back in high school (this is about to date me,) I had a friend who could out-type a 1200-baud modem. He was disappointed when 2400 baud modems came out, and it wouldn't drop characters when he typed. (This was before the days of 'flow control' on consumer modems.)

When I was a kid, I could code at 120 wpm. Of cource the debugging took a little longer. This TEST put me at 70-80 WPM.

I had a friend that could code at 320 wpm, and it was flawless. He dosn't relate well to living beings, but he understands LLL like few people I have ever met.

omg i thought i was a lot faster than this stupid test says i am, but their hard ones, and i am VERY inaccurate, but quick on the draw with the backspace

anyways i got between 40-60, i remember in grade 3 i could get 40 and i was the fastest in the class, MAN I WISH I COULD TYPE FASTER, i'm in 11th grade, how the hell do u kids in grade 7 do it?!?! i've used a laptop my WHOLE life.....i guess i'm just slow by nature

When I took a typing class in grade 8 I got a high score of 154 WPM.

Usually I got about 120. I just got lucky that time.

A guy I know has a PowerBook with the Dvorak layout... I have no idea where he got it. Maybe he took off all the keys and rearranged them. :p

Here's a guy who did it, with instructions. Looks easy enough, if you don't mind taking all your keys off!

i just got 55WPM. i thought i was faster than that! when i use my natural split in half keyboard at home i'm far faster than that.

I am lucky to get 50 wpm. I never learned to touch type. Maybe I should go out and buy one of those typing programs for my Mac. Any suggestions?

I consider myself to be one of the fastest typers around but that TypingTest.com is pretty tough. The ones I did back in high school were much easier to complete.

I was able to get 78 WPM Net speed with my powerbook keyboard, and 85 WPM Net speed on my white one.

Pretty fun :).

Does anyone else find that they don't use their left pinky much? I find that I am using it so much to hit shift that my other fingers end up doing most of work. I also don't use it to hit backspace either, maybe it's just bad technique?

Edit: the more I am paying attention to myself the more I realize I am using wrong fingers to hit certain letters. It's actually making me very depressed :(.

Edit 2: I tried it again today after getting a nice night of sleep. I got 90 WPM on my powerbook.

Hmm... just 41 WPM, more or less on only two fingers. But 100% accurate, if that counts for anything.

i got 55wpm, but i type way faster when what im typing is coming from my brain, not the screen.
Also because im typing on a ibook KB

I get over 110wpm with 90% accuracy if I remember correctly. I taught myself how to type... I never took one of those classes that teach you to type correctly.

I just started learning to touch type so I got 40 wpm (while drunk). :(

Help me Mavis Beaken!

QWERTY was designed to be inefficient.
Yeah, aren't we dumb for sticking with the inefficient layout?

80 wpm on that test - that's about how fast I've been since I can remember. I've taken these tests every couple years when the topics comes up and I'm always around 80 wpm. I'm consistent.
