Had the same feeling after watching the Mayweather vs Pacquiao fight, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Star Wars - The Force Awakens, and Captain America: Civil War. The latter three were just a movie. Not some religious retreat. The fight of the century was just a cash grab that disappointed after five years waiting for it. Remember when some of us wanted those Star Wars prequels? How did that turn out?
At my age at 35 even watching trailers for Rogue One, Wonder Woman, The Justice League, nothing excites me anymore. Because I know most of the time whatever higher expectations I gain might disappoint me. All that anticipation and most will never live up their hype. It's like having sex for the first time. To some people who waited on sex, you're like, that's it? The unboxing (foreplay) was better! The thought was better than the act! No wonder one guy on Howard Stern during the smallest "Johnson" contest said he preferred cocaine over women.
All this hype and anticipation is a mirage. Back to boredom.
Nothing life changing getting it early or getting a different color for a new iPhone. Bragging rights when nobody is around you or cares. It's really not all that fulfilling to the mind, body, and soul. Materialism and hedonism has its shortcomings. Having a weekend getaway at Vegas sounds much more exciting which might live up its hype than buying your latest toys.
iPhone 7/7+ = high opening weekend sales like most blockbuster movies. A huge dip the following weekends. Not since Titanic can any movie last #1 in the box office for ten straight weeks. Same might apply to all phones. The luster usually wears off quickly like highly anticipated movies in this ADHD era we live in...
