I was in the drive thru and pulled up to pay. I asked if I could use Apple Pay, cashier held out device and I used my iPhone and thumb to validate payment. It was a very quick process.

It's funny I have used Apple Pay everywhere so far, from getting groceries, prescriptions, and gas, but I still haven't gone to McDonald's yet. I still gotta try the drive thru there just to see how they do it.

Went to a McD drive-through tonight and was told that the reader couldn't be moved from where it was mounted. #awesome

Tried to use Apple Pay at a McDonald's in Western Washington today. After three attempts, the phone kept telling me to put it near the NFC a terminal, even though my phone was touching the NFC area. On one try the phone actually said "Success" but there was still the prompt on the register. There was a line building up behind me so I decided to just pay with my credit card. I asked the cashier if anyone else had had the same problem, and he said yeah, it had only been working for about one in every ten people who tried it.

Used it at our local mcdonalds in tampa fl, no problem at all. I also used it at walgreens it was flawless. Cashier was even excited when i used it.

Why has McDonald's become the right of passage for Apple Pay users?

I think it just so happens that Mcdonalds is a very frequented place. don't they serve something like a billion per day. I haven't had McDonalds in 7 years or so even the smell makes me a little sick. But I did try Apple Pay at a Duane Reade.

Just used it to pick up my prescriptions at CVS. Cashier squealed. Apparently I was the first person she has seen doing an NFC payment.

Two Tampa area restaurants I've been to told me that they couldn't support it at the drive-thru. Did you try that, or did you go inside?

Apparently if you use Apple Pay at McDonalds, and it detects an iPhone 6 Plus, they automatically SuperSize your meal.

I'm not sure Apple Pay is a great choice for drive-thru. They should have a safety net below the NFC scanner for all the dropped iPhones.

Haha true. I can imagine the queues at the Genius Bar.

"I just tried to buy a big mac..."

Yes, they should be able to target the NFC in a cone from the drive thru window with a 6' range so you don't have to hang your phone out the window.

One did refuse to me at the drive through and I called the phone number on the receipt of the main owner. Got two gift certificates out of the ordeal. Score!

Same issue was happening to me until I held the phone completely vertical while sitting in my car in the drive up. It wasn't working at an angle nor horizontal.
