You can take it back and pay a nominal restocking fee after the event, then possibly get the new one for less, depending on what the price points are.

I sometimes don't understand people on this site.

The "nominal" fee is 10% so minimum of $200 for a MBP.

I have been living in a hole so until i see spy shots of a 17" mbp in the new style i will carry on assuming that the new laptop is just a 15" mb. :p

No...that is incredibly stupid

look at it this way tho. if you buy a computer next week something better will be out. so u know. u still got a decent mac. does it matter?
even though it would be nice to have a brand new one i do agree.

nice new design.

That is very true. Just a shame because last time i went to buy a mac my order got cancelled and stocks dried up. Next thing i know the 24" imac was released and i was able to change my order. Damn them apple store sales people and there charms.

No again...You could try to make this argument for a PC or other electronic device, but Apple isn't releasing new MB/MBPs on 10/21.

I am sure you will enjoy your computer, but since you apparently have no common sense, spend a lot of time on this forum to figure out how to take care of your new MBP.

Anyone who doesn't research an expensive, long-term investment is a dumb***.

I bought a MBA 36 hours before the price drop and was not charged to upgrade to the now cheaper 1.8gHz MBA.

This whole site was created *specifically* to mess with your mind. There is *no* event tomorrow, nor will there ever be an event. Apple notebooks have been EOL'd, and so Apple has created this whole thread, just for you. If you go back to the store tomorrow to exchange your system, you will see nothing but bare shelves... plus, they'll seize your notebook as being too outdated, leaving you with nothing but regrets.... trust me on this one...

hope this helps you feel better.....

Absolutely. In fact, the reality is that the entire world is an illusion, and we are all actually human batteries in a giant matrix supporting a massive hyper-computer... running Vista.

lol, id rather keep the current mbp than pay a restocking fee. Win some lose some i guess. Will see what the future holds.

Well why not. It isn't like the darn thing is going to rot when the new models are in the shops. If it does what you want then that's fine. Enjoy your new computer.

Hey, maybe the new one will be cheaper and the 10% restocking fee isnt that much more than you safe by buying the new one.
Or keep it and search for a failure, I guess you will find any:eek:

I have sense, i looked what i could afford and the spec i wanted and how the laptop would be used. I then bought the laptop on them three factors, what i didn't count on was being sold a laptop around 24 hours before new ones are due to be released. Research online means nothing and i have no reason to get views on technology from rumour sites. How can you tell what is true and if it is true would the advice be biased? I need to look at my needs.

No you don't.

Of course you would be sold a laptop 24 hours before the new ones. In fact you will be sold the old model until at least the weekend when the stores will get the new stock in.

"Them three factors" apply to any computer you buy. You should research the specific product you are planning to buy. For example, you don't research MP3 players if you want to buy a Sansa something-or-another or iPod.

Also, I have come across this link: https://buyersguide.macrumors.com// tens of times before I ever saw the front page or the forums. Every tech site has a story on this. Not to mention part of that online research you think is stupid includes updates. I decided to buy in August and will not be until tomorrow. For the same price (possibly less) I will enjoy a better machine because I did online research.

I think its great that you got a computer that you enjoy. However to say that research online means nothing is a stretch -- even if you don't want to get technology views from "rumor" sites then you could visit the hundreds of other technology websites which all reported the story about the new Macbooks coming out. There is nothing about the advice being biased, Apple sent out invites to a Notebook event on October 14th, I don't see how you can get more straight then that.

I've owned my MacBook Pro for about 5 weeks now. Had no choice, needed a laptop asap. I could no longer patch up the old Dell any longer. Made the switch to Mac and could not be happier. You have an awesome machine there, enjoy it.

lol all i gotta say is, if u knew about this website, how come u went n bought a macbook pro the day before the update??????

the past 10 news articles on this thing is all about the update and the event tomorrow.

none the less, you got a great computer there, feel free to use it like crazy, then tomorrow demand a new one :) (or whenever ur local store gets the new ones in stock, should be within the 2 weeks ur allowed to swap)

Im over the moon that the new macbook pros come will most likely come as gloss only. Have fun trying to use your laptops outdoors :p.

I hope the rumors are true. I will sell my non-glossy Macbook Pro in a second if it was close to what I paid for it so I can get a brand new one. I want glossy next time since I am just a consumer that watches movies. :)
