OP: "I've been an iPhone owner since day #1... used a 2G for a little over 1 year, switched to the 3G 2 years ago and have been using it since."

OK, so they mentioned being an iPhone owner. But didn't talk about the iPhone at all.

"Hi, my name is Jason. Did I tell you that I have an iPhone? How about that time I walked into a TGI Fridays and had to wait 2 hours for a table. No joke! 2 hours! Oh, and don't even get me started on the food!"

Are you sure it was a Corporate Verizon Store? My local VZW store has all working demos in a nice open a spacious sales floor. Not quite as nice as the local AT&T store, but you can see they got tips from one another. I would bet its a Reseller, most resellers don't want to be out the cost of all the Demo phones, so they just have replicas. Although, I would at least think they woudl spring for a Droid demo. And secondly, I would LOVE to walk into the Verizon store and not have somebody ask me if I was finding everything alright. They bombard me every time I walk in there.

So you get angry if you are asked if you're alright, but you get angry still if your not.

Try working in Sales, Sure some people don't care but being in a Phone Shop, I'm sure they get commission

You know what? Despite the fact that I mentioned I've owned an iPhone since Day #1, that our AT&T service sucks here, and I was visiting the Verizon store in case AT&T doesn't upgrade their service and I have to switch, I'll agree with you just so you feel better.

Seriously, I feel bad about wasting your time. This reminds me of a time where I was really pissed off at a local oil change place. I had gone in to get my oil changed, and the guy totally was trying to rip me off, selling me new wiper blades when I had just had mine replaced and also telling me my air filter was clogged. Next thing you know, they're all asking me to turn on my wiper blades, and honk my horn and stuff. Anyway, what was I saying? Oh yeah, I'm sorry for wasting your time in this thread that I forced you to read, and comment on twice.

I'd like to send you a gift certificate to somewhere nice. I once went into this supposedly good restaurant, one of those fondue place where they heat cheese and oil and chocolate and stuff. Anyway, it was crowded, it took over 30 minutes to get a table, the cheese was runny, the oil never really got that hot, the wine list sucked and was overpriced, and the couple next to us was just blabbing on and on and on about stuff nobody cared about out. The bill was really expensive too.

Anyway, again, sorry for wasting your time. I hope you have a more pleasant rest of your day, which is what I'm hoping for after I finish work. My wife and I are going to cook chicken paillard, which is a really nice refreshing chicken and salad meal which is really good on a hot day, especially when it has been as hot as it is today (really for the last few weeks, LOL). Anyway, again, sorry for waiting your time.

well played good sir ;)

and since we are already off (on?) topic...

I was once at a t-mobile store paying my bill (for my unlocked iPhone no less). I'm standing in line, and some guy busts in the store, looks around, starts fiddling with the blackberry that was on display (working model), popped it off the stand and ran out the store. We were yelling at him trying to get him to stop cause we figured he might shoot us but no shots were fired.

Poor fellow probably just wanted to see what all the fuss around the blackberry was. I'm sure he returned the phone....
....eventually....

If you're going to buy Verizon, check out a corporate retail store. You'll get better customer service and you will even have more options such as the ability to add a corporate discount (you can buy anywhere and add it later but the store can add it at time of purchase) or ability to get a 1-year contract instead of a 2-year contract.

Best Buy around here anyway seems to be pretty good, and you'll get an instant rebate instead of a mail-in rebate. I prefer to get a 1-year contract when I buy though since it's only an additional $60.

Oh, Verizon mail-in rebates are great. Rebates usually arrive no more than 2 weeks after you drop it in the mail.

No, I don't think they are all like that. My local Verizon store has working phones that you can test out, and for the most part, the reps seem friendly enough.

Not to be a jerk, but you realize this is an iPhone forum, right? You didn't mention the iPhone ANYWHERE in your post. You might as well have talked about your experience with your Windows laptop and how much it sucks or how happy/unhappy you are with your Dyson vacuum cleaner.

Your insight about the Verizon store would be better suited to a cellular website such as howardforums.com. Again, not being a jerk, just saying that there are better forums for this kind of thread.

I totally agree. Every time something related to Android is posted here, without any reference or comments about the iPhone, I wonder why it's posted in this particular forum. This isn't the general "cell phone" forum, so why even start this topic here? This is when that little red triangle comes in handy.

Congratulations on being Troll of the day!;)

Maybe you walked into an "authorized retailer" rather than a corporate store. In my experience all the corporate stores have working models of the phones and good customer service, while authorized retailers usually have the dummy phones and underpaid, unmotivated workers.

It's the same with AT&T & Sprint. You always want to deal with the corporate owned stores.

This has been my experience as well. Look on Verizon's website OP and find a corporate store and go there.

I was in a corporate store picking up a phone a few weeks ago and it was clean, had helpful staff, and all working floor models. You must have been in an authorized retailer.

I'm curious if AT&T ever offered a micro cell to you. It sounds like you've been in contact with them. Maybe call and ask for one. There's some threads about getting one on here.

VZW Corp stores here in KC seem pretty nice, and well laid out. I have a work phone from VZW and as with very one at my office the sevice is poor...borderline horrible. Wlak into any building and service drops to nothing. I receive voicemail alert sitting at my desk yet the phone never ring, or the best kind...when the VM is from a few daya ago and we get to explain to our customer we just now got his message.

Can you hear me now?!?!

I have to vote not at all...

I'll stick to ATT for now.

Haven't been in a Verizon Store yet to compare smartphones, but I recently had a similar incident at a Sprint Store. I went in to take a look at the HTC Evo 4G so I could compare it to my iPhone 4. They had posters of it, but none were on display. Just before leaving, I, as some have mentioned here, asked a sales person and he told me he had one in the back to show me. The Evo was low on battery, so he hooked it to a charger. Spent a good 10 minutes, and when I had my iPhone 4 out side by side with the Evo, the sales rep came over and was quite intrigued. So, I think if I hadn't asked to see the actual phone, I would be sharing your experience. BTW, I left with my iPhone 4, feeling fully confident with my purchase and glad to have experienced the competition.

Verizon is always unfriendly. You walk in and sign your name on a machine... AT&T comes and greets you at the door!

Customer Service dropped my razr back in the day when I was getting a software upgrade and he just looked at me like he pooped on the floor and didn't know how to clean it up.

Best.
Response.
Ever.

Seriously... are all Verizon stores this terrible? There is no chance in hell I'll buy from them, even if I do end up switching (they DO have much better service and coverage here)... I'll just order based on reviews (hopefully won't have to if AT&T keeps their promise).

If you're going to order based on reviews, why are you complaining about the dummies in the store?
