My guess is that the next iMac will be another refresh. I find it hard to believe they'll have a retina display in a screen that large for a product that is a small fraction of their overall sales. I'd stick with your still gorgeous 27" iMac until it either completely dies or something life changing from Apple comes along for the iMac (retina, no chin, etc)...:):apple::D

well, when i meant by extend, i mean as in buy another applecare for the iMac, its simply just walking to the store and buying it.

Wow, you need to stop giving completely false info ASAP. This is wrong. You absolutely cannot buy Apple Care twice for the same product. Stop telling the OP otherwise.

I just bought a fully configured 27" iMac (SSD, 2TB HD, 16GB mem) - and I love the build/design/performance. I dont really care at all what refresh they introduce. I did not want the superdrive to go away. And I am very happy with it.

I will have zero buyer's remorse if they come out with a new version in weeks/months. Dont care. This iMac meets all my expectations. And a Retina display is NOT coming - get real.

no need to be rude. how was i to know that you can't buy applecare twice? it clearly isn't written up where i see stuff on this forum. i was giving completely innocent advice to someone who needed help. i also only needed just one person to tell me otherwise. no need for people like you to dip your nose in it and repeat to me something that someone else has pointed out like i am stupid.

quit hating and move on, troll

While it's not ideal to purchase at the tail end of a design cycle (for most), at least you know you're getting a mature product that has probably been refined internally over the past 3 years.

The biggest key to the next generation iMac will be SSD, so you've already purchased the biggest jump many next-gen iMac buyers will see. I agree that a retina display at this size is probably way more money than Apple is willing to eat to keep prices at similar levels. So you'll probably have your new baby awhile before anything truly better or revolutionary comes along for the iMac.

They cover out-of-warranty system? Out of the goodness of their heart? Because they love their customers? :D

I've seen it done on a case-by-case basis. This doesn't mean they are going to cover every system or every issue after AppleCare expires but I've seen them cover more than several. (mainly major problems/ product design flaws)
