But that's not how Android manufacturers operate. The SE is the perfect example of refinement, restraint, and well-measured "compromise."

Modern Android hardware manufacturers are almost the exact opposite. They throw anything and everything into each new handset advertising "features" which Apple doesn't have but that most don't want. They're just praying that something sticks. The result is handsets that are somewhere between ridiculously overpowered drag racers that can't serve as a daily drivers and circus freak-shows that are interesting to see, but that no one wants to hang out at.

"1,000 'No's' for every yes."
"Different doesn't mean better."
I like you so I'm going to forget all about this post. :|

With Apple Store, Genius will also have no clue why your battery is draining. All they will do is reset your phone and hope for the best.

I have had my iPhone hat just keep dropping WiFi connections. All Apple Store's employee did was reset my iPhone and force me upgrade to most recent iOS. It is not until the third trip to Apple Store that I got a replacement unit

I guess each side has their pitfalls. The grass isn't always greener, it seems.

The battery meter on the iPhone is pretty deceptive. Takes forever to drop from 100% and when it hits about 50-45%, it's a free fall. It's like a gas gauge where the top half of the tank is bigger than the bottom half. Pretty deceptive but it makes you think it has better battery life compared to other brands where you can see every percent drop.
Regardless, the iPhone 6s Plus does have a great battery life!

Well I used android phones since 2007 with a HTC and then nexus4 and now oneplus one but now thinking move to ios but like Elisha said maybe the battery is a bit deceptive. but still maybe bettet battery then oneplus one

To be fair you were actually using Touchwiz, which is the Samsung self built OS based on Android. If you're ever interested in doing a comparison again buy one of the Nexus phones so you can experience Android before the carriers and manufacturers fill it with bloat.

I have. They're uninspiring phones and vanilla Android is just like it sounds. Solid but vanilla. Nothing worth leaving the ecosystem

Touchwiz really isn't that bad anymore, I find myself switching back and forth between it and the google launcher just for the hell of it. Also putting google launcher gives you almost the same experience as a Nexus, just with a different lock screen and settings screen. The bloat is annoying but it takes like 5 minutes to disable it all so you don't have to look at it.

In short if someone doesn't like Android on a new Samsung phone a Nexus probably won't do that much to change their opinion.

I prefer iPhones but I can acknowledge that this is definitely true.

Google Launcher may give you the look of a Nexus device but TouchPiss isn't just a Launcher. It's fully integrated with the firmware. Tonnes of services run in the background just for TouchPiss to work and everything Samsung has TouchPiss integrated into the framework.
But it does look like it's much leaner in Android 6.0.1 compared to 5.1.1.

When I responded early in the thread, I was using my 6 plus all of last week. I switched back to the S7 Edge Sunday morning because an important app I use at church doesn't work on my jailbroken 6+ on iOS 9.3.3 for unknown reasons. My S7 Edge has been off the charger since 6am yesterday, and didn't charge Sunday evening to see if I can make through a full work day on Monday. Went work at 6am, and made it home with 3% left. 1 day 11 hours (35 hours) total.

Not saying this will be the same for everyone. Obviously we all don't use the same apps, and I don't play games on my phones. I just stream music and videos heavily, browse, email, and text. Data usage shows only what was used on S7 Edge... It's a little more if I include data used on my iPhone this month. Batteries are comparable between both phones with my normal usage... so I think iOS does a better job since the 6 plus battery is smaller by 685 mAh. It doesn't matter... I love both phones. If it gets me through the day until I can put on the charger in the evening... that's all that matters.

If you disable Google Location History, you'll be able to squeeze out a couple of extra hours.

Android's implementation basically sucks. Copycat manufacturers who appeal to the lowest common denominator. Market is filled with garbage phones with garbage hardware/software handshake. I don't care about some stupid edge-viewing bezel -- give me a damn phone with excellent speed and battery, good audio and mic, good antenna, and seamless hardware/software integration. That is iPhone.

The Google Launcher gives you the visual appearance of a Nexus but not the performance, I've owned both so I've experienced it. For instance my Nexus is on Android N which was released last week, and has the latest security updates. That experience is more similar to that of iOS where Apple retains control of updates, security, etc. That said I have head from others as well that Touchwiz has improved over the years.

How long ago have you owned both? I went from a Moto X 2015, which was basically stock Android, to an S7 Edge and the S7 is much snappier with both touchwiz and google launcher.

Of course my iPad beats both hands down ;)

You just described my Galaxy S7 Edge, too.

I have to disagree with you here. My S7 Edge has pretty bad battery life, is laggy in some ways right after a reset (freaking Hearthstone is laggy), and I always have issues with audio over blue tooth being buggy and laggy.

I dunno this keeps happening to me with Android phones (which are mainly what I have had over the years), honeymoon period lasts like a month and after that every single thing the phone does seems to annoy me.

The only thing I remember annoying me about my iPhone 6 was 3rd party keyboards not working that well.

Maybe you got a lemon, because my friend and I generally get around 5.5-6 hours SOT on my Galaxy S7 Edge. He gets slightly better battery life (6+) because he's usually on Wi-Fi whereas I mainly use LTE. It's the first Android phone I've ever had that has really good battery life, though I don't remember my Nexus One being all that bad.

I never had any problems with lag with this phone either. I honestly get more stutter from my iPads than I ever got with my Galaxy S7 Edge. I used the iPad for comparison because the screen is closer in resolution, though still not quite as high as the Galaxy S7 Edge. I never get any lag or stutter on my iPhone SE but the screen resolution is so small comparatively.

I also stream music over Bluetooth in my car all the time with both my Galaxy S7 Edge and iPhone SE and they both sound the same to me. I have no issues with Bluetooth lag or other bugs.

I just wish someone could make an Android equivalent to the iPhone SE. I want a good looking small Android phone with great battery life. I don't need a QHD display. 720p is fine on a 4" display, especially when it means better performance and battery life.
oh boy, I had a Galaxy S4 Mini back in the time, so I looked up to S7 and S6 mini to recommend it to you, Samsung is not making those anymore... great phone btw **** material!

The problem with most mini phones is pretty much everything is gimped. I know some compromises must be made, but I feel Apple did a very good job balancing everything with the iPhone SE. It doesn't have the best specs, but it does have the best processor and camera (in an iPhone), so performance doesn't suffer and pictures are still fantastic. I don't want a mini phone with a slow processor, bad camera, terrible battery life, low quality screen, etc. I don't need a super high resolution screen (720p is fine on a 4-4.5" display) but I definitely don't want something that looks washed out.

Pretty sure it isn't a lemon, I think it's just from how I use my phone. These aren't issues specific to my S7, before it I had the last two Moto Xs and they ended up developing the same issues, almost exactly. I also had a Nexus 9 and that was pretty awful.

What I mean by blue tooth lag and bugs is it takes awhile to actually complete the connection and sometimes just won't play the audio at all without a restart. I mostly use pocketcasts but the issue remains when I switch to google music or spotify as well so I don't believe it is an issue with the app. Again this was a problem with the Moto X as well.

Keep in mind I have everything turned on...location services, gps, wi-fi, blue tooth, nfc, etc... I know I could increase my battery life by turning some of that off, but why should I have to? I didn't have to do that with my iPhone 6 and I could easily get through a day without needing to charge it.

I believe both of you. Everyone uses their phones differently and not everyone uses the same exact apps. In my screenshots in previous posts I can go through a full day with power to spare on both my 6 plus and S7 Edge. Last post my S7 Edge went 35 hours before putting on charger. The only thing I turn off on both phones is wifi since I have UDP. I'm a heavy streamer in music and videos (used over 40gb 3 days left this cycle)... I mainly use my phone for calling, texting, browsing. Only social media I use is Twitter. Both phones connect fast to my car dash via Bluetooth. My wife's car takes forever for our iPhones... but my S7 Edge connects faster for some reason. Everyone will have different results because not everyone uses their phones the same. I have nothing bad to say with either platforms... I could see good and bad for both... but I like both equally.

I also have a Moto X. No issues with speed or lag, though battery life is less than half of what I get with my Galaxy S7 Edge.

The Bluetooth issues you're describing have never appeared on any device I've ever owned, regardless of OEM or OS.

I do wind up turning a lot of that stuff off, but not to save battery life. I have unlimited data, so I generally just leave Wi-Fi off. I don't like the Bluetooth icon in the status bar when I'm not using it, so I turn that off, too. I leave NFC on on my Moto X but turn it off on my Galaxy S7 Edge because, like Bluetooth, I don't like the icon always displayed in the status bar. It doesn't show up on my Moto X. I never turn off GPS or location services, though.

Of course everyone uses their phones differently, but I use all of my phones the same, so I can compare them with each other. I get almost as good battery life on my Galaxy S7 Edge as I get with my iPhone SE, which many people can agree has the best battery life of any iPhone, only slightly beating the Plus.

I love trying different phones and OS. I don't know what attracts me with android but honestly after trying so many android phones, i always get an issue every time i give it a try. My last one was the galaxy s6 edge, beautiful phone with lot of potential. BUT i tried every advice regarding battery, i had enough of recharging this phone at least twice a day and lately phone heating up and painfully lagging when i'm just browsing chrome.
Anyway i got the iphone 6s plus few weeks ago, i don't care about the 7 because i got a good price and i like being on the S cycle.
I think now i learned my lesson and would be staying with iphone. i will miss some functionality of android though. Considering i never had issue with 3gs, 4s and 5s.
Iphone 6s plus have the best battery i've seen on any smartphone i've owned, best feeling is not worrying about your battery being dead before going back home. I used it heavily even with gaming and still had 20% left when i got home. What is the point getting a smartphones if you have to disable so many features (to conserve battery) and you have to worry about running out of juice constantly.
Tried apple pay, love it and so easy and just works. Games and many apps looks better than android ones. I actually use 3d touch. 1080p screen is very good and don't feel downgraded much from the QHD screen. I like the pictures from the camera which looks true to life compared to samsung.
The size of the plus is ok with me, i learned battery life was the most important for me.
What i learned here is when i use iphone i keep it for a while, android i kept changing phone for whatever reasons. I know Iphone can be boring for some people but after using android phones after a while that you will miss it.
The only regret is not getting the iphone 6s plus earlier.

Android is an incredible OS

But its just not your cup of tea - and that ok

iOS is also an incredible OS

Happy you found what worked best for you after experimenting with both, and not outright dismissing one or the other as far too many "fanboys" tend to do...good on you :)

Same here, I use the same apps on both my 6 plus and S7 Edge. That makes a better comparison than comparing what others get on their phones. If others have poor battery on the same phone I have... no reason why I wouldn't believe them. It could be a lemon or defect, but most likely the apps they use, settings, usage... etc... This isn't limited to Android phones... I see varied battery efficiency results between iPhone's in threads here also for the same reasons.
