I love my Kensington Expert Mouse trackball (still wonder why they call a trackball a "mouse," but whatever.) Just upgraded to the wireless version, and mostly very happy.

However, I've discovered I cannot click-and-hold to select text anywhere, or click-and-hold the top of a window to move it. (Those functions work perfectly with my MBA's touchpad, and worked perfectly with the wired ExpertMouse.)

Has anyone encountered this? I have a feeling it may be some conflict between the system's Mouse settings and the KensingtonWorks settings, but can't find what might be adjusted. Help! Thanks.

Update/correction: Also, all other clicking and double-clicking etc works great. It's just the click-and-hold drag and select functions that don't. It's awful.

No one has responded here, so I guess no one cares, but just in case: I just spoke to Kensington Support, and they told me this is a known issue with M1 Macs and KensingtonWorks software. To be addressed in next update.

Not many have M1 and a Kensington, found your post thought google search :)
I tried multiple things, even downgrading, nothing works. Thanks for sharing!

Disappointed that they haven't updated the software yet, especially since this is an issue they're aware of. Previous updates have been on a shorter cycle.

4/23 update: Still not update, still disappointed. 😢. Come on, Kensington.

Really unhappy with Kensington right now, since they are aware of this major bug in the KensingtonWorks software.

SteerMouse very configurable with Trackballs.
You can use chord combinations.
I have nine different combos.

Do yourself a favor and stay away from the Kensington software. Use SteerMouse, USBOverdrive or a similar tool. I switched from manufacturer tools to 3rd party back when I had Elecom (Huge and DEFT Pro) trackballs and found it a better solution. That's also the case for the Kensington Expert Wireless I've used after the Elecoms and the SlimBlade I'm using now.

Found this while looking for a solution to a weird action of late:
2021 Mac MINI m1 with the (wonderful for years ) Kens Expert Tball.
What happens is; I will grab a file and try to drag it somewhere, but part-way through the drag it DROPS it some random place it is being draged across, in a window or behind a window, making me panic and then go to FILE command-Z to undo the file move...
can STEERMOUSE and KENSINGTONWORKS-3.0.4 be installed on teh same machine and then pick which you want to be using?
