How could it be normal for a $1400-1700 machine to leave marks on the screen that could very easily lead to scratches in time?!? It's not normal, so you need to take it back. The rubber thread on the edges of the screen should space the screen from the keyboard so there are no marks. Take it back, they may be able to re-adjust the hinge or just swap your mac out.

What "rubber thread"? My screen is just slightly recessed in from the aluminum shell. I'd think that would have given it the proper clearance but it doesn't.

P.S The chances of smooth plastic keys scratching the screen are slim to none.

If you brush the inside edge of the screen you can feel it. A rubber line, very thin, just outlining the screen right along the aluminum edge.

Obviously not. While I don't have the new one, my wife and I have had 3 Macbooks and never had this problem. I still use the Radtech screen protector just for extra protection and it is great to clean the Macbook.
I've always found the included styrofoam to work find. I am thrifty;)
