OP:

Your only option is to take it back to Apple a second time, and have the keyboard replaced under the free replacement program.

If you're dissatisfied with it, you might have the replacement done, and then sell it and buy something else. I would disclose to the buyer that the keyboard had already been replaced, and also advise him/her that the free replacement program covers the problem until 2020 (for a 2016 MBP). You may have to "ask a little less" because the 2016 models are "known to have problems".

Then... either buy a 2018 MacBook, or buy something else.

I posted a more detailed version of my journey with the 2017 MBP.
I emailed him when i had issues the 3rd time and a week later i had a missed call and a voicemail, saying is Tim Cook and that would like to hear more about my issue with the macbook, next morning an Executive Relation advisor from Ireland (Helen? I think) called on his behalf.
Whats so weird about it?
He is known to reply to emails, thats why i reached out to him.

There is a lot about that which is weird - Tim Cook wanting to hear more about your issue with the MacBook? Ha... ha...

Well, that's how it happened, wrote complain about my issues i was having for the 3rd time to his email and had a voicemail from him, everything got sorted after with a 2018 replacement and compensation.
Don't care if its funny or not to you tbh, i am more than happy with the outcome. ;)

Oh, you were serious about Cook calling you. Thought it was a figure of speech.

Lol, no.
Don't know why everyone so surprised though? I would be surprised if Steve Jobs himself would call from my Ouija board. :))

Jokes aside, while i was going through my continuous problems with the 2017 MBP, i was searching for best way to contact Apple or get their attention on my case. Through phone and online was going nowhere and the whole situation was becoming unacceptable for the price i paid for that MBP. I came across users reporting Steve and Cook reading and replying to emails, so i wrote a long email, photos of 3 repair reports and a video of the issue developing for the 4th time same day when i took it from service for the 3rd time.
Maybe this caught his attention, i don't know.

The 2015 12" MBP and the 2016 models are 1st Gen, 2017 is 2nd Gen, 2018 is 3rd Gen.

2016 MBP is 2nd generation. The 2017 is a minor variation on the 2nd generation including some changes to the labels. 2018 is 3rd gen.

Thank you everyone who have weighed in. It's clear I need to keep at it and hope for the best. Very disappointed since I really like the computer but way tooo pricy
