Lets think about this shall we? There are many things we can count on being shown, all of which take some time. Especially the software.

  • iLife '07
  • iWork '07
  • Leopard
  • iTV

iLife consists of five applications and Jobs usually demos all of them. iWork may even see a new application along the lines of "Charts" or "Numbers" which will be demoed as well. All of this and Leopard, and iTV? Two hours seems right.

iWork was skipped last year in the presentation - he just said, iWork has been updated to '06, blah blah blah. Then he wen to the meat of the presentation - Intel.

But,
  • Apple Stores Update
  • Update on iPod - how it's doing
  • iLife '07
  • Leopard
  • iTV
is what I think is more predicatable.

Don't forget that Intel will be announcing their new quad-core CPUs a day before the keynote. So I'd expect at least 15 minutes about that new CPU, the new Mac Pro, and lots of benchmarks.

I love how all the people come here to bash Digg but are clearly regular readers. Get a life, stop being jealous of the $60M man.

The way the attendance at the keynote is limited to certain groups vs. last year when it was open to all attendees makes me wonder if there a treat or something under the seat/goodie bag as has happened before and they're limiting seating to people who've....ehm paid their dues if you will. Just a thought.

I'm really curious as to what's coming out. I hopt the true video ipod comes out. I've been waiting on that for a while...and wanting to upgrade from my 3g ipod which is too small for my music now. Though, what with my upcoming cam purchase I doubt I'll be able to afford a new ipod for a looong time even if it comes out.
The keynote was available to anyone at the conference last year? I'm going to be there this year (with a User conference pass) and I have been wondering how early I need to show up to get in. It starts at 9, so I was thinking about showing up ~7:30 ...is that too late? How many seats are available in there?

Any suggestions are highly appreciated!

What do you think is going into iLife '07? What more is there to do or demo? Sure there will be a bunch of new awesome features for it that we never would've imagined, but keep in mind that Steve managed to fit iLife AND all the intel stuff last year, and that was 1.5 hours. He'll prob skip iWork again, or shorten the iLife time to make room for iWork so that he spends the same amount of time on the iApps. That leaves a BUNCH of time to do Leopard and iTV. No way he'll fit 1.5 hours on that. Leopard he'll bring attention to the already mentioned features but not spend that much time on Leopard, just say ok these are the top secret features, shipping in March, $129 per license $199 for family pack. Then theres iTV, which will take another half-hour, and that leaves us about 45 mins to talk about iPhone + iPod video.

To quote someone else on the forums, if you think that any "pro" stuff (mac pro, ACD, etc) will be debuted at MWSF when we've got ALL of this other crap to get through, Ive got some Louisiana beachfront property to sell.

agreed.. I'd love to see silent upgrades though?

L7400 low power c2d is also released by intel then. Ultraportable?

Keynote thoughts

I'd like to see it on pay-per-view. It's always more interesting than most things on TV anyway.

It's two hours to make room for all the big production numbers. I heard that the dancers' hats have tremendous "faux' feathers, and the number about why Vista sucks may make the Top 40.

I'd like to see Steve rock the world by wearing a navy blue mock turtleneck!

He'll need the extra time to wait for the ovations to fade after he announces a new incarnation of .Mac that doesn't suck and changes the name that doesn't make grammar checkers puke (and sound like a riff on .NET).

Not to my knowledge. In years past, floor pass holders could get in after everyone else was seated if they begged appropriately, but I don't think this has been possible in the last two years as the demand has increased substantially. If you have a user conference pass or better, you're entitled to seating but get there early. The earlier the better. The room is huge, but it's always packed.

i think the extra time is to account for all of the extar clapping that will be going on. Oh, and for the half hour episode of Entourage, which will be streaming from the new iTV [at the end of the show].

Well hey, if Steve introduces some new products, talks about Leopard's top secret features and talks about iLife 07', I believe it.

Can they make this keynote a free download on iTunes this year? I don't know why Apple is so secretive about sharing old keynotes.

You've always been able to watch the keynote streamed from the Apple website later that same afternoon. But it would be cool to be able to download it too - so we can watch on our new TrueVideo iPods or iTVs later :)

  • iLife 07 (I don't think he will spend as much time on it as he usually does)
  • iWork 07 (He will spend a little bit of time talking about the new spreadsheet app)
  • Leopard (Awesome new features, but nothing as good as exposé)
  • iTV (Hopefully way better than it looked the first time it was shown)
  • One more thing... iPhone. (Available in 6-8 weeks)

If the 'iTV' isn't ready to ship Steve will have to announce some new gadget that is available immediately, say a new AirPort Express with 802.11n. Apple would be crazy to let anyone out of Moscone without giving them the opportunity to drop some more cash on something "cool". New versions of iLife and iWork just don't have the impact that hardware, even relatively insignificant hardware, does.

iChat for windows would be BIG.

When you say early ...do you mean crazy 3 a.m. early ..or say somewhat sane 6-6:30 a.m. ...or late early like 7:30?

Thanks for the advice! :)

Nah, I think the extra half hour is to show off the second battery. ;) :D
