Wow, looks like the project is trying to rip this off.

I seriously doubt that the creators of this kickstarter project didn't find this in initial research.

This doesn't have thunderbolt. The KS project even copied that.

Most of us already know about the bookendz. In fact, I posted about it here first.

Its over $200. Its not TB and has no gigbit ethernet. So, I am having trouble with your point?

My wants for a dock for my Air:
- 1 Cable (Thunderbolt)
- Can have an external plug for powered ports
- Display port/TB daisy chain port on the back
- Gigabit ethernet port on the back
- 2 USB ports on the back (For a desktop KB/Mouse
- 2 USB (3.0 if possible) ports on the front (for easy access)
- FW800 port on the back (for external drives)

Make it brushed aluminum to match the Air and sell it for $99.

And I'd like a 5 dollar Ferrari.

Good luck with your delusional thoughts. Even Apple couldn't sell it that cheap, with 0% profit margin.

Maybe just make a solid security device for cheap?

The functionality seems to be debated here, but I was thinking that you might be onto a design that would simply allow the MBA to be locked to a cable. Even without the electronics, there's probably a market for something that isn't a clamshell case to help with this concern. Small, light, portable and robust. and cheap.

The commercials seems like a beer commercial. 'Buy this dock and hot women will want you.'

I didn't see a link earlier. Let's see, they are NOT the same:

bookendz:
no Thunderbolt
no gigabit ethernet
ports on both sides
uses slider mechanism to dock

this project:
no Thunderbolt
no gigabit ethernet
ports on both sides
uses slider mechanism to dock

The KS product can be a little bit cheaper because the R&D is already done by someone else.
