Wow some of you guys really surprise me with lack of knowledge.. There is a difference between having Bluetooth on (low battery) and Bluetooth on and connected to a device (high battery usage).


You're correct, the standard takes more battery when scanning for a device, then for a device that is already paired.

Bluetooth 4.0 LE is very low power even while in use (compared to Bluetooth classic). If the phone is being drained that quickly then it is most likely a software issue.
 
I've gone a day and a half without charging my iPhone since I got my watch and I am currently at 77%. Bluetooth on all day, texts received, phone calls and I have used it here and there. The watch has minimized my actual phone use.
