How many times do people have to say this? A virus is not the same as a trojan. It is arrogance to post smart ass comments like that when even you don't have a clue what you are talking about.

And that related trojan (which was discussed here months ago btw) you have to knowingly download it, then run it, then put your password in when the installer asks you to.

Not quite the same as a virus which would unknowingly transfer itself to your computer and infect it unknowingly is it?

Okay, okay. I just don't want people going around claiming that Macs are invisible...because they aren't.

I think you mean "invincible."

Number of times I've had to fix an infected Windows machine: innumerable
Number of times I've had to fix an infected Mac: ZERO.

OK boys and girls, about time to wrap today's "virus thread" up... Don't exhaust all your arguments and websites on this one, 'cause we know we will have another one to deal with this evening, and another tomorrow morning, afternoon, evening... and so it goes

I don't quite know how referring to a comment as "smart ass" is the same as calling you a name. . .

Spouting the WRONG information is worse than saying nothing at all.

These virii viruses threads never seem get the concept that you need type admin password to activate this type of stuff....

If you don't go to shady websites then you don't have nothing to worry 'bout..

The only virii viruses is well known is on Mac OS 9 and OS X has 0 in the wild .. Anti-virus companies are feeding PC mind-set that some Mac Owners still have even after switching OSes... :p

Oh good, at least we have something interesting to discuss now!

Viruses v. virii

While we are at it, I always wondered if it was trojans or troji

So there are no viruses correct? Everyone has me confused haha

NO viruses
Only Trojans that require you to enter your Administrator's password

You can pass on a Windows virus and/or trojan if you download suspect files and share them with Windows machines, but OSX is not affected... for those you can use ClamXav to scan your files
