This is very sad and depressing news for me 😥

All Apple need to change on the AirPods Max is to switch the port to USB-C, and design an improved travel case. That's it. Why is everything taking so long? What's going on at Apple Engineering these days?

I really want the AirPod Max but won't be buying the current version with it's annoying and soon-to-be-obsolete Lightning port.

The AirPod Max needs USB-C (and MagSafe imo) but I don’t think it really needs a better case. It’s extremely durable compared to plastic Sonys or Sennheisers I’ve had in the past. I’ve had it for two years throwing it in backpacks without any protection (not even the Apple sleeve) and it still looks brand new despite almost daily use, no scratches or creaks.

What I want is just individual control of the speaker on the left and right sides of the headphone. The balance slider does help a little but still does not make the volume higher on one side compared to the other. With a 80% hearing loss in my left ear it would be nice to have the volume adjustable to hear a song equal in my brain.

Maybe I’m missing something, but isn’t the balance slider is exactly that? It makes the volume higher on one side compared to the other. If you slide it all the way it will silence one ear so it should definitely be able to handle 80% hearing loss.

As mentioned by others, USB-C and U1 must be on the next generation AirPods Max. I was disappointed that the AirPods Pro 2nd generation didn't have USB-C.

I may be interested if they change that ugly bulky and heavy design ..
I’m kind of a headphones addict..in the past 5 years or so,I bought and compared around 10 pairs of wireless headphones (all highly rated models) and finally settled on Sennheiser Momentum 3.
Their sound quality is simply the best out of all.
they have a bulky and heavy design yet you settled on the Sennheiser Momentum 3? ok dude

I compromised with the Airpods Pro 2 - but I'm not buying another pair of headphones until I get lossless, atmos quality spacial audio, U1, USBC, and a decent case... I also have the Bose 700 and haven't really felt compelled to go up to Apple's Max based on the reviews

First of all they aren’t bulky and heavy, specially compared to Airpods Max or Sony 1000XM3/4/5.
Have even tried them?
Yes there are lighter headphones (Bose QC 35/45 for example) but the sound quality of Sennheiser M3 is the best of all wireless headphones I tried.and for me sound quality matters most in headphones.

I just got my AP Max a few days ago. The MAX is so much more elegant in appearance than the Sennhiser, by a huge margin. I don't find them bulky at all. And heavy?? I wore them for 3 straight hours last night watching movies and I hardly knew they were on. Very comfortable. And the sound quality is simply amazing. Best I've ever heard.

All I want is a better option to turning them off that’s not the ridiculous case.

Im already seeing impaired battery performance, or maybe that 20 hours feels much less as I never use a case. Between yesterday evening and now, where they were resting, 10% of battery life was lost.

The Beo H95 sounds better at times than my APM.

1-the Sennheiser Mumentum 3 sound MUCH better than Aripods Max.you simply haven’t experienced them.obviously this doesnt mean Airpods Max sound bad,but as someone who owned and tried over 10 pairs of highly rated wireless headphones including Airpods Max,I can make that statement.

2-the design can be subjective,I absolutely hate the large square metal earcups of Airpods Max and the fabric headrest piece.imo the ugliest product Apple ever designed.

I didn’t say Sennheisers are the most beautiful headphones (that award goes to Bang & Olufsen) but they look good enough, retro inspired and feel premiums because they’re made of lamb leather and metal.they resemble a German sport car to me.

and should I say again? sound phenomenal.

As for the weight,Airpods Max were the heaviest wireless headphones I ever tried.they weight around 80 grams more than Sennheiser M3 (which aren’t light weight themselves) so there’s no need to argue about weight difference.

I did listen to Sennies, they don't sound better than APM, not to my ears. I think APM is still the best sounding wireless headphone out there, but I have yet to listen to the new B&W PX8 (I owned PX7 and it sounded worse and was really uncomfortable)
