You would think by now Apple would have worked out the split in demand between the pro and non pro models.

Most people who pre order will always want the latest and greatest and especially this year with the iPhone 14 being basically the same as the iPhone 13 and the pro models getting most of the new features.

It gets to the point where it feels like they do it on purpose which is ludicrous as you’d think they’d want to sell as many as possible which raises the question how do they always get it so wrong?

Kuo tends to go up and down on his latest iPhone 14 (Pro) forecasts, so they need to be taken lightly. Apple’s financial quarter’s results will be a much better indicator.

It sure would have been nice if Apple would have advertised this information before I ordered the device. Needless to say I went back to my 13 Pro Max and my wallet is $1200 lighter again.
If you returned the 14 Pro Max wouldn't your wallet be $1200 heavier? Unless they got you to buy something else... like 60 Apple Polishing Cloths 🤣

I had the 14 PM and I just returned it yesterday. I only ordered the phone because the always on display was going to be useful to me as a night stand clock. That idea got wrecked once I realized their always on display isn't always on. Apple issued a statement of scenarios where the AOD would be turned off. One reason being it will turn off after xxx minutes/hours of user inactivity.

It sure would have been nice if Apple would have advertised this information before I ordered the device. Needless to say I went back to my 13 Pro Max and my wallet is $1200 lighter again.
Gotta love the all new Sometimes-On-Display :p

The 5C sold very well. I remember being at uni at the time and everyone who didn’t have the 5S,6, and 6S during those times had the iPhone 5C. It helped Apple regain customers who were starting to shift towards Samsung and at the time HTC.
It was quite possibly the 1st iPhone that appealed and was affordable to those on a lower budget.

Yep, I had a working 5C alongside 7 and absolutely loved it! 👍

I wasn't planning on buying a new phone all year.
Then on the launch day I went straight to the store and bought one.

iPhone Pro Max - go all in.... screw everything 😂
If I'm going broke, I might as well go in style.

Anyways, I come form 11 Pro Max to 14 Pro Max, I wanted to consider the non-Pro line-up but once used to being spoiled it's hard to go lower....
I know.... the recipe for financial issues..... but I do it once every 3 years.
I upgraded from an iPhone 7 Plus to a 14 Pro Max. The former was bought in Jan 2017. So a long over due update.

My 4g plan is around $35 USD per year, how much is your 5g plan to “get a good 14 pro max deal”?
Your carrier charges extra to access their 5G network!?!? Who is it?

Even the cheap MVNO's (Cricket, Mint Mobile, Ting Mobile, Metro by T-Mobile, RedPocket, etc) don't charge extra to access their 5G network

No surprise. This happens every year. People want the Pro models with the telephoto lens and all the new features. Especially if somebody's only upgrading once every 2-4 years, they want the latest and greatest to last the longest. Not the half-baked upgrade.

It's the same reason the mini wasn't more successful. People want the Pro features. With all the carriers financing phones over 24-36 months, it's only an extra couple bucks a month to choose a Pro over the non-Pro, so it's really a no brainer. Apple should just dump the regular models and make three models with the same features: 5.4" or 5.6", 6.1", and 6.7".
I do have to wonder what actual sales breakdown is, going by articles like this and anecdotal evidence on the forum, you would think that Apple should just stop making the lower cost products entirely.

This is what happens when you make the base iPhone a nothing upgrade.

Apple shares go brrr

Apple plan worked. Make the iPhone 14 not worthy of an upgrade and tempt others to pay a tad more for the Pro. Brilliant. Lol.

What happened to the trolls on here saying people wouldn’t upgrade? Or wouldn’t upgrade until usb c? I went out to dinner last night and including my partner all of them are upgrading to the pro max 14, I think a lot of people are underestimating the sales for this year, I think people brushed this off as a minor upgrade but in reality a lot of folks were ready for upgrades or love upgrading every year

Not surprising when the regular 14s are basically candy coated 13s from last year with a new name and a bigger screen model.

I honestly don't know what Apple was thinking this year. The iPhone 14 "Pro" should just be the standard model. They invented a headline feature and kept it to one model. And then for some reason decided it would be a great idea to make a bunch of slightly bigger versions of the lesser model.

A bunch of strange decisions, playing chess with carriers (SIM slot), and experimental features, not even uniform across the product line. Oh, and tons of bugs and issues.

Definitely a pass this year. Hopefully they have a more cohesive, sensible strategy next year.

I think the Watch ULTRA is a success too and Apple probably will be increasing that too.

GOOD MORNING!
One of the reasons we are doing this is because we are going to have to replace SO MANY phones for that #VIBRATEGATE issue everyone's having. Basically, their cameras are destroying themselves. Oh well.
I know you jest but I suspect it's not far off the truth. 🙂

If these camera issues are prevalent in the most popular Social Media apps they will get noticed.
Apple can't sweep these under the rug.
