I wonder if I can clip one of these to my 2 year old's belt loop to keep track of him when we are out.
I have a trackimo mini and it doesnt last long on my child before he rips it off. If you want to track your child you need it to be tiny, hidden and always charged on them.

It hasnt been invented and i doubt will ever be. It would stop me worrying though if there was such a device

Says the person using dozens of different technologies to post comments on a technology forum. You're using 97 different technologies to argue that having a 98th would be completely unreasonable.

Lol! BRILLIANT post, Carl.
That lol was genuine... you actually did make me laugh out loud. Thank you.

What Pathetic humans we have become requiring nannies to do everything for us so we don’t have to actually use our own god given brain.

Exactly

Tim is genius at making us reliant on Apple for everything. And you lot think this is a good thing.

Nope, it's people themselves, as per the above (Your own) "What Pathetic humans we have become"
We buy Apple stuff, we let companies influence what we buy.

Bubble unbursted!!! =)
Because you are WRONG.
Not sorry.

Lol, innovation would nearly not exist at all if anyone adhered to your bizarre & narrow personal definition (thank heavens nobody does!).
To you, even the 1st person to ever put an eraser on the end of a writing utensil was NOT being innovative??!!
Ok. So a smartphone itself is NOT an innovation whatsoever, since a phone, a gps, a camera, and a mobile computer all existed separately prior to that??!!
Good luck convincing the entire rest of the world that what’s considered the most amazing innovation of our century isn’t innovative at all.
Fingerprint scanners in phones.... NOT innovative. Existed elsewhere before.... etc.
See how silly this sounds??
Even sillier than your analogy that did not land AT ALL.

As a last aside... it’s poor form to use the word in the definition of the word.

Well you sure told me. LMAO. But what would I expect coming from someone who'd put "fanboy" in their name. Do you feel better tho? Seriously, are you sitting there just the king of smug? I bow to you dear fanboy... your logic is most infallible. Someone pass this guy an eraser.

It takes a big man to admit a mistake.
You’ve moved up a notch in my book... (that puts you at notch one).

It’s hard to feel smug when the bar was set so low that all I had to convince you of was that, according to your weird definition, the most impressive technological innovation of the century wasn’t an innovation at all... that argument pretty much won itself.
So, “smugness” never came into play.
However, it is rare that someone on the internet will acquiesce & admit they had a kinda crazy brain fart, so again- I applaud you! The feeling of satisfaction I feel has nothing to do with anything I said... I’m just impressed you came around!!
Keep up with that open mind.

Re charging - my Apple watch is waterproof and has wireless charging so Apple certainly has the technology for these tags.

thiz is great i gonna use them 2 track my female so now i can c where she goes. Gonna put this pill in her bag and car and the true will be told. Ill control what and where she goes like a boss thanks Apple i can also c where my cat goes this is pretty cool

I’ve used Tile for many years. They are great.

I may be interested in these depending on the cost, size and hopefully they ain’t all pill shaped as that doesn’t fit very well in a wallet.

Apple tag at $4.99-$9.99 please.

At low price it has all chances to attract a lot of new customers, become the new “iPod” in terms of popularity and own the market. Given the product is good and smart, of course.

But I’d bet it will start at $19 or something like that...

I’d bet more than that. $29 maybe. Virtually no way I would expect less than 20. But I hope I’m wrong!

Do you think they will force or allow opt-in of the “community” aspect to find devices? This would be great if anyone with iOS 13 was silently pinging these devices and securely sharing the location so an owner could locate their device.

The saturation of iOS users would likely mean its never out of range and always able to be located.
What planet are you on? iPhone usage in the US is 41.9%

https://www.cultofmac.com/286237/iphone-1-smartphone-u-s-market-share/

Worldwide it's 22.17%

https://gs.statcounter.com/os-market-share/mobile/worldwide

There is no "saturation of iOS users" so you will always be able to find your device

Actually, what I really want is a tracker I can put on my cats that isn’t the size of a pager.

YES!!! I've also been looking into options to put on a dog.

Please make them waterproof

Years ago I had TrackR. Plenty useful. I'll buy those in a heartbeat!

There’s a part of me hoping these are rechargeable, with a usb-c port. I’m trying to think of the cons associated with this (e.g. not waterproof), but I assume my Tile devices aren’t either (haven’t checked).

Or could be charged like Apple Watch?

So if someone with an iPhone finds my house key, the person will automatically be notified to which address he needs to go for the break-in?

I appreciate this is more for people losing things, but is it easy for thieves to block the signal?

1 out of 5 people with a phone is a lot of people with a phone.
4 out of five people with a phone is way.... more; plus you're not taking into account people who (A) don't want a smartphone and (B) people who don't wan't a mobile phone of any kind.

You add those badboys up and they diminish your 20% figure.
