Do you seriously believe anyone with an IQ over 10 really thought that Apple won't move to notchless when the technology is ready?
I think some people think apple rumors is real news, don't understand how upset people get when they post a rumor and the. People just start to cry. It's unbelievable.
The the complaining about pricing, I have never seen so many jealous people that when they can't afford something, they think apple should lower the price so they can.

Surely, my next iPhone update. Once in a what? 5 years? :)) Good Jobs, Steeeeve
I'm still on iPhone 6 Plus, what's that now, going on 7 years? Will grab a SE Plus (if one gets released this year).
I need Touch ID, so unless Apple makes use of those Touch ID power buttons on the upcoming iPhone 13...I'll wait.

Periscope telephoto lens is interesting. I know it’s already available on other smartphones. Together with Touch ID under the screen this could finally mean the end for that hideous notch.

Under display Touch ID was rumored for ‘21 & now crickets. No mention of it whatsoever for next year or the following.

Seems like APPLE has slowed down their upgrade time table
And that may be because people upgrade their iPhones even with the slightest upgrade or perhaps Apple is spending less time on iPhone development and involved in numerous projects
Bottom Line: it would be nice to see other major hardware improvements besides the camera. And getting improvements at a faster cycle especially when android already has it

Now this I can see - Apple finds a way for the Face ID components to be hidden under the screen while keeping a hole punch for the front camera.
Yeah, this. All of the other sensors...fine. The camera? No way they invent an invisible camera. Because that's basically what we're talking about here.

If everyone iPhone user was as Apple Watch owner, wouldn’t need it. But sounds like a neat step forward
I have yet to try the unreleased Apple Watch unlock feature in 14.5 beta...but if its anything like the Apple Watch unlock that has existed for the Mac for years...then its not a replacement for anything. It is a fine backup for mask wearing.

But experts on MacRumours told me that the notch was there for branding purposes. Funny how it was in fact a technological limitation after all (as said at the time) and people were falling for the usual Appleogetics.
Once it becomes an obvious technical requirement that isn't ideal, you then embrace it in every way possible.

You don't got out and say "yeah we hate it but here it is".

Like most people, this past year of mask wearing has been an annoyance when it comes to unlocking my iPhone, but that is all it really is, an annoyance. It does show just how much FaceID has become part of our everyday lives - that when it’s not available, the extra 10 seconds to type in the pass code is considered bad. If I had to guess, the learning lesson for Apple is going to be that having at least 2 forms of unlock systems will be the go-forward, regardless of the combination - FaceID and TouchID or either plus Watch connectivity.

I'd rather prefer under display fingerprint scanner, they can keep (stupid) face id as well, where ever, in the manual maybe.

Since behind the screen camera tech is now obviously possible - just not implemented on a mass manufacturing scale yet- it makes one wonder how many displays we'll be looking at in the future will actually be looking at us

Who gives a f..., by then my xperia 1 III will have 2 yrs already

Sony Xperia 1 II was released last year Jun 2020,
Sony Xperia 1 III announced will not ship until June 2021 ... neither, nor any Sony smartphone has under display Face Unlock tech.

Great phones ... like incredible tech with great synergy for software, given running on Android is VERY exceptional. By that I dont' just mean technology in Android phones, I'm talking on Sony's the connection between UI, tech design and Android seems to flow best for the best user experience Android can get. AOSP is nice when no longer supported by G's Android but then you miss features in the hardware unfortunately.

former SE fan (SonyEricsson).
