Ok seriously now. The headset kinda points to a pumped up Apple TV as the paired device. I mean with this headset, Apple is gonna have to take gaming serious. Not Apple Arcade, but PS5 and Xbox serious.

This has to be leading up to something new? I’m certainly not “in the know” but my kids were all into the VR headsets two years ago. They just collect dust now. Is Apple late to the VR game or laying the foundation for some really cool new tech? I’d be into glasses/contacts or a windshield type device much more than an VR headset.
VR is dead - but might get insurrected

i am full into AR - will replace my iphone - hope a foldable comes first.

i have non AR glasses and the concept is great- they are lightweight and superior to a phone you have to look at

apple needs to iron out the human machine interface - and Siri sucks so apple has a major problem there!

Do you mean that you actually care about this, hence you could care less? Or do you not care at all about this, which would mean that you COULDN'T care less? Just asking for clarification. :)
I care about it from a technology perspective and the potential ... I have tried Oculus etc and for me personally, I would not use it for "recreational" purposes, but I do see a lot of application potential eg in manufacturing and such when it comes to machine maintenance etc, and as I mentioned in another post, about 20 years ago I evaluate a wearable computer from Xybernaut for these purposes ...

You’re blinking wrong.

A quiet Sunday clickbait article - “predicting” something in the next decade.

When do we the biometric brain implants? 2040s?

Outside of a few specialized use cases, I just don’t see the appeal. Just more separation from actual reality - you know, the original ultra high def screen.

No interest in a bulky archaic headset especially if its for gaming; "VR" gaming sucks IMO. Would be interested in augmented reality glasses depending on what real life application they bring. I wear glasses anyway so give them a prescription plz :)

yes, I did read that, and for me personally, I don't care about this stuff ... from a technology perspective, sounds exciting but "virtual reality" is the next "social media", you get removed from the real world more and more - I don't care about that, I rather go out and observe nature and all it (still) has to offer ... and yes, this stuff has its place, eg I was exploring a wearable computer with a display in front of you eye almost 20 years ago for manufacturing space usage, the company was Xybernaut ...

Amen

I agree with you. I guess I’m just amazed at the possibilities more than the Apple product aspect.

I understand that AR was a thing decades ago, but this isn’t just AR. We are talking micro-level screens, insane battery tech, and hyper efficient data transfer.

Like many on here say, it’s the possibilities we haven’t considered with that level of technology that will change the world the most. In both good and bad ways.

I think these will be super fun and will be far more popular than even Apple believes. Apple will bring more attention to AR/VR giving all the OG brands more attention as well.

There will be many applications for these devices of course, from education, industrial to scientific, but they will be massively popular in gaming, easily displacing gaming computers with dedicated monitors. So hopefully Apple will have at least a few great games ready for it at launch.
This could be Apple’s “leap-frog” moment in gaming comparable to the launch of the iPhone.

since 2017...KUO says about these....it will be here in 2020, no...in 2022...no now its for 2025...
KUO dont be digitimes...

I am wondering which computers we are supposed to be developing the content for these headsets on?
Good luck with VR on a mac smoothly.

Hopefully this all means the M1x / M2 is going to have a great GPU......

Did Siri autocorrect resurrected to insurrected? Otherwise, VR might want to call the National Guard. :D :D :D

I know there are possibilities but what’s the point of constantly seeing the store hours of a store. Do I really need to know that if I’m not interested

Apple silicon chips are definitely going to be integral to this, and in ways nothing off the shelf today could compete with.

The contact lens prediction seems a bit silly. Kind of like how people in the 20th century predicted we’d be in flyng cars by now.
I thought so to when I first heard about it being a goal a couple years ago, but doing a little researcher showed me it is closer than you think. Hell, we have Night Vision contacts for the military already.
