Name an actual use case for this. I don’t see why anyone would prefer to look at a stationary 7” screen attached to a HomePod, and what they would actually be viewing.
Love the confrontational style, my man
I will humbly do my best to explain how it looks to me:
So, for someone like me, having a stationary 7" screen, voice assistant and quality speaker in the kitchen would be fantastic.
You can play music, display recipes, or watch the news while cooking or an instructional video on how to cook a particular meal (I'm no master chef, so I can use all the direction I can get on new dishes).
So why not have it be portable? Why not just use an iPad?
Having it always be available and ready in the same location is valuable, because for certain things, you don't want it moved or shared - there is inherent value in the predictability and availability of it.
Also, being able to
passively display information (for example, a family calendar for the next day/week or seeing how much time is left on the timer) is great.
The alternative to this passive display of information is that you need to demand that information each time, which is another thing to think about and do. Also, for some things like a list of ingredients or a weekly calendar, voice is just a terrible user experience.
Note that I am not trying to convince you. None of this may be valuable to you, your circumstances, or how you think. There may not exist a valuable use case for someone like you.
But there's definitely a use case for a fixed speaker/screen for someone like me.
