Any product with an M chip is likely to be a blockbuster, so just from that alone, I'd say Apple has a big year ahead.
I agree. We should see a good amount of aMacs this year. I also think this could be a big year for Apple TV, if they improve on it and position it differently. More iPad upgrades too would be nice. I think it’s going to be a big year for Apple, period.

Heard somewhere a somewhat convincing argument for why AirTags haven’t been released yet: they’re for finding lost items out in the world, relying on random iOS device owners wandering about in order to make their sensor net work, and a lot of those iOS device owners are not outside much these days. Maybe in the spring, or show them off at WWDC if there’s anything interesting for developers to do with them.

The Airtags must be one of the longest ‘rumored’ products on this site that hasn’t seen any real indication that they will launch, however if Kuo is stating 2021, I’d say it’s pretty concrete at this point.

And for those who keep dismissing the ‘Airtags’ and saying that it’s not something somebody would want, that was the same attitude people said about the Apple Watch and look where that product is today. I realize there are two different product segments, but we have to give it its opportunity to see the potential behind the advancements.

Are Airtags really necessary? Do people really lose things like wallets and backpacks, especially backpacks? I could maybe see an AirTag on keys and maybe Wallets but I've gone my entire life not having to tag anything and I'm not sure I would actually buy this product. Now I still like my Smart Coaster idea though. You have hot coffee? The Tag will tell you when it's safe to drink but still enjoy that sweet hotness.

Correction: You've gone your whole life without it being normal to just know where your things are, and never ever be able to either walk away from or have something removed from you without being alerted; so you've gone your whole life without being able to tag something.

Devil's advocate: pandemic + delays happen.

Kuo is pretty damn reliable, so I'll give him a pass.

He's been first to mention so many products, like the 16-inch MacBook Pro and the Pro Display XDR, and the display sizes for the iPhone 12 lineup, etc.
He's only reliable if you ignore that he keeps saying mostly obvious things until they sort of become true; so for some damn reason people will remember him as being correct about AirTags no matter if he just keeps pushing the launch date for the next couple of years, and then just attribute it to some sort of unforeseen technical difficulty if they never get released at all.

Airtags may be useful for the missing spatial audio support in AppleTV. Stick it to your TV-set so your airpods know how to direct the sound based on the relative position of the headphones to the airtag at the tv.

Articles like this state the obvious with not actual details. Yes Apple will release new products, yay.

At first I thought so, too, but honestly it makes more sense with just an app on the iPhone that you hold up so that it can see the tv as part of installing the Apple TV; that would give the ATV it's location offset to the tv, and adjusting for that would put no extra strain on the AirPods.

So, here's a leap of speculation, AR could help you locate an object but also an AirTag could, conceivably, run a Concierge mode allowing somebody carrying one to appear named on screen of other viewers. It's not something you would really want to wander round with enabled all the time though unless it was active only within a Geofence area :D

I used to do that with regular BLE-beacons; but Google essentially killed Eddystone as practically speaking it was just annoying to the few that had autodiscover/notifications on, and of no practical benefit to businesses.

Kuo does not have a clue on augument reality headset because there is no trace of any such device in the supply chain. Seems logical that Apple is still in relatively early stage testing different prototypes and if any components were ordered from China, the quantity was so small, that it did not leave any trace in the vast supply chain.

meanwhile Tile does not have it's head down waiting for Apple:
