Beyond a ceramic case, what else would there be to merit a Series 5 release? More storage? A processor bump? The Series 4 seems to already hit the sweet spot.

A processor bump at the Apple Watch's stage of development could unlock many game-changing features for the device such as an always-on display or continuous heart rate monitoring or sleep tracking.

My eye is on the prize! I have an AW3 - it's fine, but I had a 4 for a few days after losing my AW2. Bought the 4 as a replacement, and then someone gifted me their 3 which was so kind.

But I have to say I was torn... the 4 was unreal!

So what else could they add? Full independence of the iphone...that might get me. My hold up has been I will need to get an iphone as well and trying to hold onto my current phone a bit longer.

I know there has been talk of sleep features as well, but other than what's mentioned above not sure what else might be new
Thinner bezels. They’re still huge. Super obvious when you have a non-black watch face.

Agreed. I think the 2 year upgrade cycle is the sweet spot for the watch. I went from series 2 -> 4, and will likely stick with my 4 until the 6 comes out.

Like the iPhone, I am sitting out upgrading my AW. My Series 4 is still going strong and I'm sure this year models will be a minor update.

I could be wrong, but wasn’t ECG a surprise feature that came out of nowhere with Series 4? I can see a new health feature being announced, maybe blood pressure or glucose monitoring.

Bloomberg reported on the ECG function back in December 2017.

I have been saving for an Apple watch since like 2 years now, I am really looking forward to Series 5, I hope there is a FT camera in Series 6.

i held out buying any Apple Watch until Series 4 came out. I don't see any reason to upgrade anytime soon, but a number of my friends and peers have bought Apple Watches and I think there are more still on the fence who may jump over with Series 5 or 6. So what do we think, a couple more years until peak smart watch?

I got the aluminum version so a stainless or ceramic model would be nice in a few years.

I hope ceramic one will be affordable and some Elite Pro Edition with outrageous price.

Yep. This alone is the only reason I would be interested in upgrading my series 4-- but I don't expect they'll get where I want it. Right now I have to take it off for 1-2 hours at night to recharge so that I can wear it to bed to monitor sleep.

Apple watch 1 day:

Yeah... in the year 2259...

I wish Apple would allow me to connect an Apple Watch to an iPad. My 9 year old daughter would love an Apple Watch. It would be great for her b3cause of some heath concerns and activity monitoring. Plus all the cool factors. She doesn’t have a phone yet but she does have an iPad with unlimited data. If I could connect a watch to her iPad, well that would be great. I could pass down a watch to her.

One option might be to tie it to an old iPhone. E.g. we have an old 5, and if a few years when our now 5 year old is nine, we might do that if it is possible and if it is still needed by then.

Japan Display will supply OLED displays for new Apple Watch Series 5 models slated to launch in the second half of 2019, according to the latest prediction from well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

In a research note with TF International Securities shared with Chinese media outlets today, Kuo forecasted that Japan Display will gradually increase its proportion of OLED display orders for the Apple Watch, starting with 15-20 percent of orders in 2019 and reaching 70-80 percent in 2021.

Kuo believes that Apple will also gradually increase the proportion of LG's supply of OLED displays for iPhones, and tap Chinese manufacturer BOE as an additional supplier, in a bid to diversify its supply chain.

Apple Watch Series 5 models will likely be unveiled next month alongside a trio of new iPhones. This would hardly be a surprise, as Series 1 through Series 4 models all launched in September, but specific rumors about Series 5 models have actually been relatively quiet, so this is nice reassurance.

For example, Kuo previously said a "new ceramic casing design" would be "added" to the Apple Watch lineup, but he did not explicitly mention Series 5 models. Reuters also reported that Japan Display would begin supplying OLED displays for the Apple Watch, but likewise did not specify Series 5 models.

Looking farther ahead, rumors suggest that Apple Watch Series 6 models will adopt MicroLED displays in 2020.

I thin that apple watch will be on 2 years cycle, i don’t think so that we see a new watch. What else would we want to, ofcourse new sensors, but problem is that they are not accurate even in the category like wrist pulse meter, which from it nature are unreliable, for been trusted. They are like advisor, suggestir but nothing more then that

Finally a Series 5 rumor!! I’ve been starting to sweat because I’ve been waiting on upgrading from my dying Series 2 until the new ones come out, and I was wondering if I’d get burned by them not putting out a new one this year.

im on the boat where i got the series 3 last year and want an hermes watch so bad, i just want to get the latest and greatest. (first world problems)
