Cutting the Vision Pro right now will have a long term negative impact on any form of spacial product - even the glasses. Development has to continue in the space in order for developers to build for the future of vision OS.

It makes sense that the Vision Pro 2 is lingering in testing and 'on ice' versus completely scrapping it. There needs to be a bridge between the smart glass space and what has been done up to this point.

Apple should come out and either full-throat push the product forward and energize the development and user base, or take it out back and shoot it dead, take it off the market, shut down the App Store for it and end all support. This wishy-washy miasma is stupid and a sign of a company where no one feels empowered to act.

Hey, Apple: Don't like the rumor mill defining your product timelines? Then do something about it. Move with purpose and stop huffing your own marketing.

So who inside Apple wanted the Vision Pro besides Tim Cook?

It's a good reflection of actions speaking louder than words. Which other Apple VP has been seen even near a Vision Pro? Tim Cook got his Vanity Fair magazine cover and Good Morning America interview. Nobody else wanted to be near it.

But yet I use one every single day. The AVP is replaced my laptop and my iPad.
If I had the money, I would 100% be there with you.

I did the demo a while ago and knew it would fit perfectly with many of my workflows — plus be a cool toy to tinker with!

I’m absolutely getting one someday soon. 🤓👍

Unsurprising. Vision Pro was one of the worst flops in Apple’s history, and the biggest failure of Tim Cook. It just shows how clueless he was really.
There have been multiple failures under Cook. Yes, the Vision Pro is one of them, but it pales in comparison to the Apple Car. Over $10 billion wasted

and it didn't even see the light of day.

Apple Intelligence and the promised improved Siri, which were announced at WWDC 2024, are other missteps under Tim Cook. Cook was so focused on the Apple Car that they didn't even see A.I. coming. Now they have to use Google's AI 🤦‍♂️

Many comments suggest that Vision Pro is primarily Tim Cook’s pet project, with John Ternus having little involvement. Is this accurate? Ternus reportedly limited the capabilities of HomePod devices by not incorporating sufficient technology. Ternus also played a role in the launch of MacBook Neo, which, while lacking advanced features compared to other Apple products, offers a remarkably competitive price point.

Vision Pro has had a positive impact on my life. If Apple can address the pricing and weight concerns, I believe it holds great potential for the future of Apple’s product lineup. Although Apple Glasses will be head-mounted displays, I’m curious about the differences in user experience between Vision Pro and Apple Glasses. Currently, Vision Pro provides a premium cinematic experience that I’m concerned Apple Glasses may not be able to replicate.

Not fair I spent £3500 on my Vision Pro and now they have scrapped it, I don’t want glasses I like vr for film making, it was a flop cos it cost to much

A lot of people bought the Microsoft Zune and Windows smartphones and used them daily as well. That doesn't change the fact that they were all flops.

2 things can be true.

What they should’ve done the entire time, IMO.

I will buy Apple Smart Glasses.
You will buy the idealized smart glasses of your imagination, or the product they'll actually release?
I don't know, maybe you want something like what Meta carries but with the Apple name.

2029 seems like an absolutely reasonable timeline to get dual 4K waveguide displays within (thick) glasses form factor that can run the full version of Vision OS.
Ha! That won't happen in the next ten years. Probably not within twenty years.

Meh - This is a bit like "Mac is dead"... and then few years later M chips appeared.

The "leak" is basically saying that development of a product line, which we already know was halted, has been halted, in favor of a product line that was going to be released before the halted product was going to be released.

In other works, it's not really saying anything except tech companies do tend to shift resources around to focus on products that are closer to release date. Which is not that surprising.

lets see you do better. You acting like steve jobs didnt have multiple failures as well. Tim Cook was great and it shows as people are still buying iphones and many still prefer it over the alternative.
I don't see anyone saying Steve Jobs was perfect and every product released under his leadership was a success. Any Steve Jobs flop was more than offset by his achievements.

Yes, I agree that Tim Cook was great. For shareholders.

IF TRUE...and i have my doubts because i just read an article that they are going to put out an Apple Vision Pro Air in 2028.....I THINK THATS A HUGE MISTAKE.

The vision pro by everyone whos being fair about it, says its amazing tech, JUST TOO DAMN EXPENSIVE....Ok, fine. I agree with that, but that tech and work shouldent go to waste. I do think if they just stuck with it and got it down to an affordable price it would take off like crazy and be the gold standard for VR.

But what do i know. I just dont see them cramming all that tech in a pair of normal every day glasses within the next 5-10 years...MAYBE IN 20 years but even still...physics. How do you get all that tech on a pair of glasses with all day batter life in such a tiny frame?

The glasses and vision pro are two different categories completely!

Apple literally just announced new accessibility features for the Vision Pro two weeks ago, and are about to announce a new set of features for visionOS 27 this Monday.
Doesn’t sound like a ‘dead’ product to me.
