I don't see the need or market for this but the one positive would be running OSX on it which would eventually trickle down or get hacked to work on iPad Pro one way or the other.

The real item that would have my interest is a foldable iPhone Pro Max that folds out to something like an iPad mini with ideally Apple Pencil support.

I use a MacBook at home instead of an iPad. Reason being I want a physical keyboard. I do NOT want to type on a piece of glass. A piece of glass that gets truly gross with normal use.

But there's no way Apple would eliminate the traditional laptop design and do something like this, would they?

Have you ever typed on a glass surface keyboard for 4-8 hours a day?

Yes - I don't enjoy it and use a Bluetooth keyboard when I have to work on an iPad. But as a victim of the infamous butterfly keyboard, I would be happy to replace a mechanical keyboard with a glass surface IF the typing surface also had haptic feedback. Hard to believe Apple wouldn't consider this as a track pad w/haptic functionality would need to accounted for on such a MBP...

This has the potential to be super cool, but I think this is Apple attempting to be innovative. They are reverse engineering Samsung folding display technology at this point 😂

I think Apple should give grants to AR/VR developers to help drive the Vision platform. This has the potential to be the biggest thing since iPhone. Not so much on folding displays.

It’s cool but if it replaces the keyboard I don’t see this something. I would buy, dual screen seems more like a tablet type of thing , hell I prefer my MacBook clamshell mode when at home with my two ultrawide montors as its monitor

Who asked for this in the first place? 🤦‍♂️
Who asked for most of Apple’s products?

Nobody knew they wanted a touch screen smartphone that didn’t require a stylus until Apple showed them…

Some of the products are huge flops (Apple Hi-Fi anyone?), but some made them the company they are today.

I feel like this thing should have been released much earlier, concept is quite simple. Looks like they do not rush at all

What?

Are they going to make it run iPadOS in folded mode? Typing like this would suck.

And you're going to have carry around a separate keyboard/trackpad which defeats the purpose of folding it? You'll look stupid in a meeting while people wait for you to unfold your screen, take out a wireless keyboard/trackpad from your backpack and connect them wirelessly.

Why would anyone want this over a standard Mac? Or even an iPad with keyboard case?
People also said typing on an iPhone or iPad would suck without a physical keyboard too…

Apple wouldn’t be the first company to try a dual-screen laptop with touch, but with their control over the OS APIs, they might be the one to do it properly.

Think of it as an extension of the Touch Bar, but where the entire keyboard is adaptable

I type without ever looking at the keyboard; how exactly am I supposed to find the home keys?

Naaa... A full touch-screen keyboard is fine for people who don't type a lot, but that's it. I work in excel all day, and still can't even use a keyboard without a number pad, let alone a god-awful touch-only keyboard. 🤮

So... The future is not a spatial computer ?
Sometimes I feel sad for the Apple Innovation Department 🥺
