I was hopeing for a periscopic telephoto lens with some serious zoom capability. i find it to be much more useful!

Do you hold this same energy for people who pay that much or more for meaningless car upgrades, hobbies, sports that they’ll never be pro in, pets… etc? Does it impact your life? Just trying to figure out why it matters what others do with their money…
Yes, it is the state of humanity in first world countries.

It became a norm for people to pay 1000$+ year on year for what in reality is a very minor upgrade that has no real impact on anything, except for making people feel better that they have the latest and greatest
well, the cameras are usually better. :)

To be fair, an 1 year iPhone keep an excellent resale value, so it’s more like 350$ that people would pay annually.

Having said that, I keep mine 3-4 years.

exactly the same as you. Used to upgrade yearly, makes no sense these days! Or maybe I’ve just become more sensible with my money.
guess it depends where you want to waste your money :)
About 5 days a week I buy a $3.50 black coffee and Im cheap, I won't pay for cable.
I have the 11pro but I might upgrade for more storage and the camera.
Hell some people buy/lease a new car every year so when viewed through that lens
its not so bad!
But yes, very 1st world!

It feels like this 13 iPhone will greater differentiate the Pro models from the regular line.

Hopefully that will mean lower pricing on the base and mini.

My friend has had it for awhile and tbh, I think it's amazing.

To each their own.

I mean some people still complain about the iPhone's notch. Just look at the damn seam in that thing! I couldn't visually get around that and to me that would be such a point of high flex that eventually something has to go wrong. I really don't care for the squared-off vibe of it, its like too 4:3 or something. I'm definitely more into 16:9 type. I think the flip design, despite it still having a seam and an archaic design just in terms of flip phones, is probably more something I could tolerate than the ones that fold out like a book. Still though, not looking for foldables for the forseeable future.

It does depend on what you upgrade from though aye, I’m going from an iPhone 8 so it should be pretty sweet

That’s what I’m holding off for, see what the 12s/13 is all about specs/price wise n go from there ;)

I wish that we are still on 2-year design cycles (new number then S year upgrades) instead of these tiny incremental updates.

The cameras need improvement in general. I have a 12 Pro Max. We need more megapixels or something. The pictures look great on the phone, but on a larger display, there are a lot of issues.
Absolutely! Almost 6 years with the rear 12mpx camera size (from iPhone 6s).
It’s about time to upgrade to a larger sensor in order to improve how the pictures look on larger screens.

I used to stay up til the 3am preorder launch. Now? I order one 4 years later.

funny how this CEO thought raising the price $50 year after year wouldn’t be noticeable yet they lost a $1,000 sale year over year because of it.

The beginning was lower hanging fruit. You’re not going to get massive hardware changes annually with a device this refined. I’d argue there was still no reason to upgrade annually even then And the biggest upgrade happened when jobs was gone and they went to bigger screens.
Apple: Prices keep going up. Focus for 5 years now is on camera and emoji instead of innovation. Reusing the same design from years ago and calling it a new phone/design.

The iPhone still has one of the best camera systems overall, the best silicon in the industry, and a software/security package that is best in class.

No one has done any better innovating. A crappy foldable phone isn’t innovation.

Low end price point has been virtually the same from year to year.

Is this a variation of fix bugs or new emojis...because Apple is incapable of doing both at the same time?

As opposed to changing the form factor for no good reason?

In true Apple fashion, they’ll still manage to somehow sell it as the best thing ever at the event.
