Photos from the 48 MP sensor will still be output at 12 MP if pixel binning is used, meaning the photo sizes will be about the same, and I suspect that will be the default setting on these new iPhones.

Just like Apple doesn't set these phones to output RAW or ProRes by default, they won't set them to output 48 MP by default either.
No it should let you take 48MP photos in good light at 12MP photos in low light using pixel binning this has been reported.
 
I know people like change and the pill/hole punch is a change, but it doesn’t give us any more usable space for content than the shrunken notch of the 13 Pro, so why go through the trouble of the redesign.
No, you will have more area that’s why the aspect ratio will change slightly taller and wider. The 13 true depth camera system will be massive compared to the 14 Pro models.

Also you can’t keep seeking the same design. The 14 Pro models will make the iPhone look new.
