Kuo: iPhone 14 Pro's Larger Camera Bump Due to New 48MP Camera System

I’m more than ok with a little camera bump if needed for an even better quality camera. People seem to obsess over it, but it’s never really bothered me.
Glad to see you like it wobble. ?
I am still struggling to find a case for the 13 pro so that it does not wobble when using it on a surface.

If that’s the reason I guess it is justified but the camera bump and lens array is poor design and Apple could do better… but I bet they don’t because they want iPhone Pros to be universally recognized and identified.

It’s all about mindshare. When you see those eyes looking at you, you know immediately it’s an iPhone.

I think this is exactly what they’ll do. The quality of the photos will improve dramatically and be a huge feature of the Pro series.
the perceived quality of the phots, maybe ... it's all part of Apple's computational photography, hence depending on a computer algorithm, driving the need for faster SOCs - that does not necessarily improve the quality.
It will certainly give the average consumer more options

I don’t care about megapixels. I care about better-looking photos. They’re not the same.
At what point does the thin camera designs of iPhones need to use larger sensors/better lenses to become equivalent of real pocket cameras? I wonder how much further we can go before the photography gains become nonexistent? Digital image processing can only benefit you so much.

I’m ok with the trade-off of making the phone body slightly thicker so that the camera ‘bump’ is the thickness of a standard case…. This way the camera becomes roughly flush with the case and any additional thickness to the body can be used for battery.

However if the bump is so big, it protrudes beyond even the case, then it may look too weird.

If you use a case (besides the very slim ones), the bump is pretty insignificant
Well, even the Otterbox commuter case has to have a slight bump around that... 😓
