Same thing though not specifically the MBA. Give me a 24" imac with that rumoured 10 core, 32GB RAM, more ports and better external screen support already!Anyone else doesn't give a damn about Mini-LED but wants a new-design M2 MBA sooner and cheaper?
oh i want the bigger screened iMac. 😀 I have a 27" 5K Retina iMac now and while I think I could stand to downgrade to the 4.5K in the M1 iMac, just because it's so damn pretty, I'd rather not. Also, I'd like the option of buying a second monitor to match the first... and it just doesn't exist right now.Same thing though not specifically the MBA. I'm thinking of getting the 24", if it gets a more pro version, with another 24" 4K screen. Two 27" screens would be too big and one 27"-30" screen not big enough. Also, with the chin of the imac, they will look horrid when used vertically. So 2x 24" on top of each other would be my preference. Though for coding, vertical could be better.oh i want the bigger screened iMac. 😀 I have a 27" 5K Retina iMac now and while I think I could stand to downgrade to the 4.5K in the M1 iMac, just because it's so damn pretty, I'd rather not. But I'm a coder, not a photographer/videographer. I want lots of real estate at retina sharpness, but I'm indifferent to all that extra colour support. Nice to have, I don't have a need for it that would justify extra expense on just that. And I have a TV/home cinema to watch the content that would benefit from it.
So I really hope - but knowing Apple don't really expect - that they'll have an option to buy non-Mini-LED variants.
I would probably get it. I have the 2018 MBA now (in all its butterfly-keyboardness) and I'm starting to feel it. I know it's silly but one of the two reasons I haven't already bought an M1 MBA is that it would *look* almost exactly the same. I want the new design. I want the new shiny.I'm really wondering if there will be a small "color"-upgrade soon for the existing Mac Book Air. It was rumored some month ago and my daughter would love a purple Mac Book Air for school.
They now have a "BYOD"-policy (bring your own device) so any student has to bring his own notebook.
But school starts soon, she probably has no choice but the existing ones.
Two 24" 4.5K screens (the .5 matters) may be pretty much ideal. There is no such thing, however, as a matching standalone screen for the M1 iMac.I'm thinking of getting the 24", if it gets a more pro version, with another 24" 4K screen. As for the laptops, yeah, get them out there already. MiniLED or not, the 16" heat generator is way beyond its sell by date so needs to be replaced soon.
Would something like this be of interest? If you don't like Amazon, I suspect there are other stores that sell colorful snap on cases for the 2020 MacBook Air.I'm really wondering if there will be a small "color"-upgrade soon for the existing Mac Book Air. One of the smartest comments I’ve read on Macrumors, congratulations. For a second, I felt the urge to look through the front page in case I had missed a stealthy launch lolNow that the M1X 14 and 16" MBPs are released, time to shift focus on to the Air. I'm loving my 14" btw 😉 -- it's the best thing ever!
I would hazard a guess that the M2 is not ready for primetime at this point, mini LED production does not see high enough yields to have both a 14” MacBook Pro and a 14” MacBook Air on sale right now. If you have been following Apple for any length of time, they don’t do business the way you want them. Apple has decided that mini-LED is the direction they want to go, because they believe there is value for their customers. You may not value mini-LED, but the “I just want it cheaper”mantra is something Apple has never listened to and if that’s your primary driver, you have SEVERAL Windows alternative laptops that you can choose to purchase, several of which have OLED screens which is what so many people on this forum seem to think is the ONLY solution. Basically, stay on knowing how Apple does things or get off the bus. Understanding how Apple does things is the key to accepting how Apple does things, like it or leave it.Anyone else doesn't give a damn about Mini-LED but wants a new-design M2 MBA sooner and cheaper?
Same frankly for the MBP and higher-end iMacs... I wish for a non-Mini-LED option at a better price... and in existence. If we're sitting here waiting for Mini-LED screens to actually be made in sufficient quantities when the extra capabilities it brings aren't important to some of us, but are just going to make it later and more expensive...
I have been using a MBA since 2014 that recently broke (broken display). I love how quiet the MBA is. I was wondering -since I'm little bit in doubt in choosing between the MBA 2020 & the newest MBP- is the MBP fan loud? Now that the M1X 14 and 16" MBPs are released, time to shift focus on to the Air. thanks, that looks nice. I will show that to my daughter.Would something like this be of interest? If you don't like Amazon, I suspect there are other stores that sell colorful snap on cases for the 2020 MacBook Air.
Purple snap on case for 2020 MacBook Air @ Amazon
I did the same thing (case) for my 2020 M1 MBP - I got a black case. Works nice, and it gives me an alternate color when I don't want to see the space gray, although I predominately use the MBP without this case so far. Nice to have for the future, though.thanks, that looks nice. I will show that to my daughter.
Or maybe some decals will do as well
Are you aware of burn-in and flickering (due to PWM) with OLED displays? While others are already putting/planning OLED displays in theirs
Yes. The upgrade to M2 will probably not be as significant as the one from Intel. However, they focused on the transition to Apple Silicon then and can make other design changes (like the chassis, display, etc.) now. What's wild is that the M1 MBA is so good that this seems like a meaningless upgrade to me.
I love the iPad Pro 11", but it really isn't a replacement for a laptop, IMO. There are many thing I simply cannon do on iPad, as long as it's locked to iOS. It needs a true Mac OS to be a replacement for heavy users.No. The Air at 14" isn't going to be bigger than the current Air at 13.3". They just have to decrease the bezel size. It's not going to decrease portability. The Air is already more portable than 99% of the crap Windows PCs out there.
If you want something even more portable, you should just get an iPad Pro 11".
The mini-LED display will be the most significant upgrade. You might as well consider the current MacBook Air at a discounted price.Anyone else doesn't give a damn about Mini-LED but wants a new-design M2 MBA sooner and cheaper?
