What kind of pictures are you guys taking that you need camera upgrades?

(Similar to the question: What are you guys using the phone for that you need 5G?)

:D

A lot more zoom would be good. The iPhone 12 Pro Max zoom is pretty paltry compared to other phones I've heard.

Imagine other people having different needs than you. I know, I know... it's a crazy thought that not everyone is just a clone-bot of ghanwani walking around.

Improved cameras is a good reason for an upgrade. The next iPhone could have clear in-focus 10x zoom and closer macro ability.

Can the next iPhone useg LIDAR to scan 3D objects and take 3D pictures?

Personally even the camera on iPhone 5 was good enough. If you need something that produce amazing results on par with National Geographic you probably shouldn't use a lense attached to a cellphone.

My rule of thumb is, if I can't tell which picture looks better with my eye then the camera improvement is not necessary. No need for the CSI zooming techniques and bringing out the laser readerse to find that extra pixel here or there.

Apple on that Google mentality with camera. Let's keep using the same 12mp camera for 5 generations but use AI to boost it. Come on Apple..

Cool, but it's only Jan. I don't put much thought into these rumors until maybe May or June at the very earliest. Maybe put all the focus on how to get a FULL FRONT SCREEN on these phones.

Whatever the case, I won't be upgrading until probably 2022

I won't buy a non-SE iPhone until Apple gets rid of the notch because I can't justify spending 1000€ for a device that looks like it was released 4 years ago

are you all seeing a difference between the 12 Pro and Max camera and photos?
The way I understand it, under typical conditions and good lighting, you won't see huge gains from the 12 Pro to the 12 Pro Max. Where you can see the differences are more in the edge cases and low lighting. I personally went with the Max as we had our first kid last year, and I wanted to give my 11 Pro to my wife who was on the X so that we'd both get camera gains. I can really tell a difference (from my 11 Pro) in low light when trying to get a shot of my little guy snoozing, as what used to be a 3-second pause is often just 1 second.
