I love my iPhone 11 Pro Max. But as a photographer who is using my dedicated camera less & less, and my iPhone more & more as my main camera, I will finally be upgrading when the 14 comes out.

Kuo's recent reports make it sound like we're entering the Malaise Era of Apple products.

The only way I see this happening is if the regular iPhone 14 and 14 Max receive the iPhone 13 Pro version of the A15. I couldn't see them reusing the exact same A15 from the iPhone 13 and 13 Mini.

But ultimately, if the 14 and 14 Max have solid camera improvements and some other new feature(s), most won't care what kind of processor it has, especially when you consider how powerful the chips have become.

The people that truly care about the processor will probably want the Pro model anyways, so it will likely work out fine for everyone.

So wait. Will this be the first time that Cook won’t be able to say “And this is our fastest iPhone ever” and apply to the whole new lineup?!? 😱

Got to be the chip shortage finally catching up with Apple, and the war in Ukraine looks set to extend it into next year.

This will be the generation where the mini is sadly dropped and the non Pro and Pro phones will stand side by side on screen size.

Don't forget that the A15 was already a bifurcated line on the iPhone 13 generation. The 13 Pro had a 5th GPU core activated so I could easily see Apple using - in effect - the CPU from the iPhone Pro 13 possibly with an overclock tweak.

The Pro also included 6Gb RAM over the regular 4Gb although the iPad mini 6 has the 5th GPU core but only 4Gb RAM.

This clearly wouldn't have worked in a 14 Mini (where battery life would have been affected by it) so potentially that's another reason why Apple have dropped it for the 14 generation.

So if Apple offer battery life increase through efficiency and/or battery size (especially in a 14 Max), GPU increase through using the 13 Pro SoC, possibly 6Gb RAM on the 14 Max model? And maybe improve the cameras - would that be enough?
I wonder also if this is anticipating near future tensions with China also?

Perhaps it’s going to be easier assembling (mostly) iPhone 13 parts into the iPhone 14 and this they can move a big part of iPhone assembly away from China. Just speculating.

Apple just brought on Luxshare to do a portion of new iPhone assembly. This NPI work was previously solely contracted to Foxconn.

Besides, this rumour was shared back in December and originated from TSMC leakers.

The fact that they have a M1 chip in iPad Pro and don't have software to actually make use of it, highlights disappointment and overkill for these chips in small devices (RIP WWDC2021). My iPad Pro M1 has not been touched in 5 months and only use it for updating the apps to keep the system up to date.
Not that I actually disagree with you overall, but Nomad Sculpt now appears to be able to use the M1's much-bigger RAM. So there's that, anyway.

Both MR and 9to5M claim they were able to verify this is really Kuo, but I also doubt it. Someone like him won't just appear on Twitter and start posting stuff, especially Apple related (which we know Apple is always tracking down these people)
Doesn’t make sense. He’s an analist that gets paid for this info, why would he give it away for free?

just get a cheaper iPhone 13 instead.
That’s pretty much the mindset of any average consumer though, isn’t it? The iPhone 13 naturally will be slashed, which will make it more attractive. The only people generally upgrading their phone to the latest device, are those that are on the ‘annual upgrade plan’ or have completed their install payments on their previous device.

This rumor regarding which chip is in what phone, will have no impact on consumers that have no idea what the ‘A series’ chips even are, let alone understand the differences.

Yeah, Kuo is sitting in his office at TF Securities watching this unfold for weeks. If only he had a phone or Internet connection to tell the world.

Do you guys seriously think that’s what is going on?
The way I look at it:
He is an analyst that gets paid to tell clients and others what’s going on and make recommendations on stock and stock trends moving forward.
Up until last week we’ve only seen paywalled reports, once per month or a few more…
Now we’re seeing twitter messages, done to the charger level from the same guy that predicted Apple car in 2025 or whatever year? 30W charger and a car - if you were a client or subscribed reader of his reports - what would you think?
This just does not add up which is why I just not convinced that this twitter account is him…

I can actually see this happening, to differentiate the regular and Pro models even more considering that the iPhone 14 models will pretty much be identical in terms of size (and I guess kinda design wise too?).

It isn’t free.

You still don’t know which Chinese company is making the flex PCB. Which company is making power amps for the front end 5G radio. Who is making the key caps on MacBook Pro?

You need him to know which stock to invest in. These leaks are his way of advertising his insider info.
