Kuo: Redesigned MacBooks With Apple Silicon to Launch in Second Half of 2021

I hope They FINALLY include a touch screen?
Lazy APPLE. No touch screen when Surface by Microsoft has had it for years
Whats a iPad Pro M1 aka MacBook M1 without a touch screen?
wanna run iPad and iPhone apps on your Mac ? You need a touch screen!
This has nothing to do with laziness. MacOS is not designed for touch, so Apple will not bring touch "back to the Mac" like everything else on iOS.

Apple decided to bring precision pointing (mouse & trackpad support) to iPadOS instead, which given that macOS is precision (i.e. cursor) based it presents few issues when running iPadOS apps on a Mac.

Each device is optimized for it's primary control mechanism: iPad for touch, Mac for cursor. Simple.

Please get rid of the touchbar.... Please get rid of the touchbar.... Please get rid of the touchbar.... Please get rid of the touchbar.... Please get rid of the touchbar.... Please get rid of the touchbar.... Please get rid of the touchbar.... Please get rid of the touchbar.... Please get rid of the touchbar....
I wonder how many "likes" the eventual "no touchbar" MacBook will get when it is revealed here on Macrumors.com....

Only though Big Sur totally looks like it was designed for touch.

Oooohhh, I hope it’s thin! And rectangular! And made of aluminum. And...um, glass. And...uh...plastic...
...well shucks, that describes the current ones.
So bigger screens, then?
Yay!
And no ports!
...wait, wut?

Either a 13" or 14" MacBook with no bezels... I'm not buying a new MacBook until that happens. The 16" got that treatment, why are we still waiting on the smaller ones to get this? I'd rather get a Dell XPS 13 for this reason.....
The 16" got the smaller-yet-still-irregular bezel treatment. I have one and I'm not a fan of the bezels at all. If frigging Dell can make something nicer for the XPS 13, I have no idea why it's so difficult for the 2 trillion dollar company to design aesthetically pleasing devices like they used to and were once famous for.

Yea, no one is buying Surface or that many touchsreen WIN laptops. It's one of those random things stupid say they want but when it comes to buying it, they avoid it. Yea, only a moron wants a touchscreen Mac. want touchscreen PC, buy the Surface. Apple smarter than nitwits. Totally agree.
I get your point, but let's face it: When compared to Apple, Windows touch SUCKS. Their trackpads suck. Their trackpad support sucks. The touchscreen experience sucks.

I have yet to find a comparable touch experience to Apple on a Windows machine. Even when using my work laptop, I disable the touch functionality on the screen.

Windows is for keyboard and MOUSE.

Apple makes things better. That's the reality of it. You're not thinking btw.

The macbook with M1 can do touchscreen if the hardware is there. It can do it purposeful and not be a crappy experience like Surface.

LIke it or not Apple will eventually make the Macbook Pro touch capable.

Sounds as if the M1 chip will be cross the board, and the differences in higher ends are merely going to be the new redesign and whatever features they might shove into the cases, like ports or the 1080 camera. The next step would be adding multiple chips. Maybe a marginally upgraded M1 at best.

So maybe this is going to be like the iPhones, which are pretty close to the same, just in different cases, and differences like battery life.

Touch screen guests sound plausible given you can run apps on them. My guess is more color options and different materials.

God please no. There is an iPad for that. Who wants fingerprint smudges on their laptop screen, seriously?
Also the ergonomics are quite different in an laptop, you hold it differently, the screen is bigger. Try lifting your arm for hours to touch the top half of the screen...
Not everything that is theoretically possible is actually a good idea.

This. It doesn't make any sense at all. I pray they never cave to the people mindlessly asking for touch-enabled laptop screens.

I don’t get this. When someone touches my screen, I want to freak out. Never touch the screen....it’s the 11th commandment

Hmmm....I hope not. It would be disappointing to see the same 8-core M1 SoC in a MacBook Pro 16, or a new 14" MBP. I would hope that we would see a 12-core (8+4) CPU) with 12-16 GPU cores. It could be the same "M1X" in both machines with the 16" offering a larger battery life, plus the bigger screen of course. Or an "M1X" in the 14" and "M1Z" in the 16", with the larger one having a better GPU.

I would be delighted to see even a 10-core (6+4) MBP14" with a somewhat better GPU that would take it into the same level as the current AMD 5500M (Metal score of c. 30,000). That would be a compelling upgrade over the current M1 MBP/MBA.

I'm overdue for an upgrade and am primarily interested in the MacBook Air. Unfortunately, I don't think the Air will get a redesign in 2021. I think 2021 will bring the a designed 14" MacBook M1 Pro and incorporation of the M1 into the already redesigned 16" MacBook Pro. What are the odds a 14" MacBook Air redesign alongside a 14" MacBook Pro redesign? Extremely slim, I expect, as the Air only just got a redesign in late 2018.

THIS!! OMG, the touchbar is TRASH! I never, EVER use it willingly, I only end up hitting the bar accidentally as my fingers sit on the keyboard and accidental touches happen all the time, so it's been disabled, except for volume controls. HOWEVER, the damn thing freezes up so I have to do a system restart to get my volume controls back.

GET RID OF THE TOUCHBAR.

All I want is a redesigned iMac, I don't care if it has a touch screen or not. Until then, I will keep my Mid-2014 Macbook. In the meanwhile, I will update my windows work computer.

16" is not a new design, it's just a bigger screen based on a very old and stale design, therefore it's way overdue for a redesign.

5th gen MBP with Magic Keyboard started with the 16" in 2019

Bezzle has shrunk. Body expanded ever so slightly. There's a physical Esc key.

4th gen MBP with Touch Bar started in 2016. This model removed the back-lit Apple logo.

3rd gen BMP was the Retina display in 2012

The iMac has remained unchanged for over 8 years with the late 2012 iMac. It is likely to get a redesign sooner than any MacBook by as early as late 2021.

A redesign of the any MacBook would occur after in 2022 or 2023.

As for the Touch Bar. I don't mind its omission if it means less $100. 3D Touch on an iPhone was more useful.

Rumors for months say a re-designed 14” is coming. But if you need to run Windows, go with the Dell. The M-series Macs can’t boot or virtualize Windows anymore, at all.
