Kuo: Second-Generation Apple AR/VR Headset to Launch in 2025, Could Include More Affordable Option

When there's precisely zero consequence for being wrong, you can say anything you want. See, I'll go next:

In 2032, Apple will unveil an electric motorcycle. Called the iBike, it will be a self-driving motorcycle with a 500 kilometre range and a top speed of 200 kilometres per hour. The iBike is charged via a proprietary charger that Apple sells separately for $499 (the European Union is pre-emptively considering legislation in 2023 to ban this forthcoming charger). The iBike will only come in white.
I'm pretty sure the iBike won't come in just one color.

Teens need to be able to afford it eventually for it to become a big hit. 9 in 10 US teens use iPhones, you know this thing is a success if you see 9 in 10 US teens walking around with this thing strapped to the heads like headbands.

Apple plans to launch its second-generation AR/VR headset in the first half of 2025, likely featuring a more high-end configuration and a new affordable option, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said today.
Someone looking in their crystal ball again, we’ll believe it when we see it.

How would Kuo know when the 2nd gen will launch when the 1st gen hasn't even launched yet?

In 2077 Kuo invested in a time machine start up and then came back to 2022 to let us know that it is totally normal to spend $2000 on VR glasses when most people can’t afford electricity.

He’s completely rational and understands every day struggles of working people….

Throw out random dates and numbers to see what sticks?
He may just be guessing but we know for sure that Apple makes plans many years ahead, especially for new products, so your logic doesn’t make a lot of sense, frankly.

I don't get all the surprise over Apple working on a v2 before v1 is released. Product roadmaps (including target release dates) often span many years into the future. Anyone who hangs out on here should already be used to seeing rumours about the next+1 generation iPhone before the next gen has even been officially announced, so why wouldn't the VR headset be the same?

Spoiler alert: Apple to release iPhone 15 in 2023.

I have a really strong doubt about a $3000+ price tag.
Makes no sense, way too expensive.
Perhaps $1999 will be the price.

Who’s getting the first generation AR/VR?

First-generation is not even out yet. Kuo must be living in the future.

Looks like the first generation is not even worth buying at this point.
Yeah, it's hard to really see who this kind of product would be targeted at, anyway. (Gamers? I thought that the Mac wasn't really a preferred platform for most serious gamers to begin with...)

A very non-Apple kind of product, really. Then again, most people never would have thought that Apple would come out with their own line of watches and watch bands, or a credit card. 😅

I know that this isn't how any business works (especially Apple) but wouldn't it make more sense to sell this at cost, or even at a loss, to increase the take-up? At $3,000 this is so niche, and adding an 'affordable option' in 2025 already smells of defeat. Apple rake in billions, they've got cash they can never spend, just throw this at people. (NB: This is why I'm not the CEO of Apple)
