Sounds like a technology that's been around for quite a few years. Could this not have been implemented on earlier or current models or is Apple just holding back features for the next iPhone.

It's been available in expensive DSLR camera's with large image sensors. Guess scaling it down so it fits and works in an iPhone just took a bit longer...

Sounds nice---I'm just hoping to have a job when this thing is released. My XS Max is going to need to serve me for a loooooong time.

Don't worry, my 6 is still working just fine! your XS should still be good for years.

Writing this in October. I just found out that the sensor-shift feature is for the 6.7" Phone only. I'm strongly considering cancelling my order for the 6.1" Pro and just sticking with my XS. It's really disappointing not to have the best camera offered unless I'm willing to carry a ridiculously size phone.
