Great year to sit this one out. Perhaps a marginal upgrade to iPhone X and older users with the camera upgrades. Most of the excitement this year will be around new Apple TV hardware since my ATV4 is getting long in the tooth and the new iPad Pros. Wife uses a 12.9 1st Gen for most of her photo editing and it’s beginning to show some age.

Apple is to shame because you wanted to believe rumors? I hope you're kidding. hint: this article is a rumor.

It's hilarious to watch the amount of people who jump on anything that Ming says, and take it as more than speculation and then think the sky is falling because something may or may not be.

Shame. Bilateral charging would’ve been great when travelling, no need to bring a separate Apple Watch charger. Pretty disappointed if this is true, hope there’s some other features which haven’t been rumoured or it’s going to be pretty lacklustre.

Aww man...I hope they’re wrong about the two way charging being scrapped. It was actually the biggest thing making me wanna upgrade from my XR. I dunno if an extra camera will be enough. Maybe I’ll just have to wait till the 2020 iPhone comes out. ‍♂️

Me to.. If this isn't on the phone I wont be upgrading.

We've come a LONG way in a very short time! I think people forgot that just 12 years ago, the iPhone was first introduced and set a whole new bar for mobile technology.

Two-way charging doesn't seem to be a very efficient use of a mobile's battery. I remain skeptical of that feature, and I agree that Apple should lean towards the conservative with that feature, rather than shipping it "just because" the competition, namely Samsung, offers it.
Didn't Blockbuster say something similar about Netflix?

So effectively, bumps for the iPhone, Watch... and TV. I hope this doesn’t hurt AAPL.

so what is bilateral charging? charging screen down?

2-way wireless charging. You can charge the phone with a wireless charger, which has been a thing since the X/8. You will (when they sort it and release it) also be able to use the iPhone to charge to other items, such as the airpods wireless charging case. Yes, the phone needs to be face down, and the item being charged placed on the back. I had a Galaxy S10+ for a few months and tried the feature there, it was quite slow, not something I'd want to use, unless I really needed to, which I think is the main use, when you're out of options and really need a top up.

For me (and I assume many other people) the biggest draw here would be eliminating the need to travel with a separate charger just for the watch. If I could just plug in my phone at night and rest my watch on top of it, that would be amazing.

Hmm... No mention of memory.

iPhone 11 appears to be 4 GB.
iPhone Pros 4 GB or 6 GB?

If they follow the unsaid rule of fours (4, 4s, 5, 5s) and (6, 6s, 7, 8), next year could be another iteration year (X, XS, 11, 12?) and the introduction of the new form factor together with the 12.
No. Next year is 5G. It will likely come with some form factor change, with perhaps USB-C.

Unless Samsung improved bilateral charging on the Note 10, it's still a waste. I've heard from many people that it's terrible on the S10. It absolutely nukes your battery life. So the iPhone not having it, while disappointing, is not a big deal IMO.

Can't wait to see to the camera upgrades though. The iPhone needs it badly. Hopefully FaceID gets some improvements too. Cause now the Pixel 4 will have it, it needs some improvements to make it stand out. Heck, I'm actually forward to the Pixel. It's looking really good this year!

Damn, I'm on the iPhone Upgrade Program and I might just hang onto mine and wait for 2020... Assuming this is all correct and not much else.. kinda weak tbh.

If you're on the upgrade program, or even a carrier plan that allows you to upgrade every year, it makes sense to upgrade, to take advantage of it. I might do that this year. Probably go through AT&T Next if I don't feel like getting Apple Care

Ten minutes Keynote?

Yeah right. You know the first 15 minutes will be nothing but prideful boasting about how many XRs have been sold since its launch. Another 5 minutes spent on the wild success of Apple Music and how many subscribers we’re currently up to. And then another good 15-20 minutes on more new and exciting news about AppleTV+.

Don’t underestimate Tim.

Looking back to admire stuff is fine. But you should look into the future too. What will the brightest of the brightest bring in the next 12 years? Let the imagination lead the way.
