what is this zenbe you speak of? details?

*updated* just looked it up on itunes, and the only zenbe app is zenbe list? and that sure doesn't look like landscape texting to me.

Yeah, it's a task/list manager which is what 'Medic' said the one he found was - just suggesting what it may have been in case he wanted it again. It's got nothing to do with texting I'm afraid.

As soon as they do this, people will then bitch that there's not enough leftover room on the screen to see the messages. Because it really does leave very little room. I did a quick mock up just to see, using the current landscape keyboard, and the current way SMS lays out the screen. Yeah, that sucks...I will stick with the portrait.

That is pure manchat. No one would be bitching, they'd just spin their phone back to portrait. I have small fingers and yet i struggle with the portrait keyboard. The landscape keyboard has square keys and closer resembles a physical keyboard in terms of dimensions. A week ago I had never even owned a phone that let you see the previous message as you were typing your reply. Why should anyone care now? My monthly package comes with 1000 texts, of which I will doubtless use a small fraction, but if there was a landscape keyboard in text (or indeed in ALL applications), my usage would surely triple.

Won't happen. I really don't even see a need for it though.... I would rather write emails in landscape (if anything).

yeah, i think the idea is: "why offer landscape in some apps but not others". If you're going to do the programming to make it technically possible, why not open it up everywhere. Nobody's forcing you to use landscape mode if they were to enable it.

On that topic, I have had some situations(laying down for example), where I'd like to turn off landscape mode in safari, but again, I would like an overall setting to disable landscape mode or disable portrait mode in those situations.

I can type faster and more accurately in portrait mode so I dont really care if they make txting avail in landscape. I type with my thumbs pretty fast and by no means have small hands.

Landscape

This would be the best thing ever...And hey if Blackberry is going to have it on their touchscreen apple should as well...I saw it on an Instinct and it looked cool...Would give more room to type..
