Ok wait a minute too, I hope it is not I implied I am wrong here, I am trying to protect myself, so I don't like it being implied there is something wrong with me, I could be out a lot of money on this I may not sound politically correct; but heck, I am not going to lose out because of that it is well known there are a lot of scams, would you be fine with this? Would you be willing to lose $$$ just to be or sound politically correct? I am not a rich person, I am just trying to make a bit of money back on my laptop.

Well, I did post some recommendations, so far you haven't commented on them. I do not know how PayPal buyer's protection works in the USA, but in Europe at least (last time I checked), it mostly applies to purchases from businesses. Getting money back from a private-to-private purchase is much more difficult, as the proof is on buyer. And frankly, if you document shipping properly, I don't really see how the buyer can scam you. Of course, things might work differently in the USA. If scamming someone is as easy as it is implied in this thread, than probably one shouldn't use these services to begin with.

OP We have all tried to give you sound advice on both these threads now

Make your mind up and move on as know one is going to convince you that this is a sound and straight forward transaction.

Only you can decide if the risks are worth it

how did it go, if you did not shipped yet, I personally recommend you to NOT ship the computer, even though its still fully up to you.

in the screenshot you provided above, literally, that is 'Looking thru your comments and think your a great person, just want to know that if the computer is in normal functioning condition and how many time it take til run outta warranty'

I am a total native Chinese speaker and grow up in China the whole time, so I do think that I'm qualified to say that the tone his speaking do sounds like he is up to something, personally. he don't have to bring up the matter about think your a good person or some phony crap like that, it does sounds a lot fishyer while reading in Chinese, it totally have NOTHING to do with the computer.

We have a type of scum on a local ebay-ish site that being extremely straight forward, or even overly straight forward while making the deal and asking for a discount or refund/partial refund after received the item by using random crappy excuses or simply bxtching about it, I am NOT saying that he is, but for the informations that we can see right now on our side, this is something that we DO have reason to be extra careful.

Well thank you for that, yeah, I had a bad feeling, so I canceled the sale and did not ship. They then replied right back asking when they would get their refund and said I was delaying one of their other MacBook auctions. I replied back to look in their PayPal as it showed in mine that they got their refund. Then a day later they left bad feedback saying that I do not not take credit, I am not sure where that came from, my listing said PayPal preferred as payment method, I replied to their feedback that their English was not good and misunderstood my listing.

They did have a us address and matched in their PayPal but I did not get a good feeling, when the auction was over and they paid they left a note, this time in broken English that the item better be in working good, or something similar so I did not like that tone.

So now I am not sure to list again, should I I made a long preamble to my listing warning scammers. What do you suggest to prevent this section nice you seem to have some knowledge of this.

For the computer type of thing, especially since your a student, it do relatively count as a high value item for you I believe, I am technically a student too (even though I don't really go to school now), so I totally understand your concern of the potential risks xd. I was get rid of two computer, Macs, that is good condition and well loaded configuration but I don't need them anymore.

what I did and the way that I personally prefer is directly meet the person, but chat first to confirm that if that person is even worth spending time to meet or just a pure ret@rd. when I list the Macs, I make a obvious sign that indicating 'In town only', then just wait for the people that interesting about it, and hand over the Mac in person, let the person take sometime time to fully exam the device and make decision, and clarify that once he decide to be cool with it, theres no further refund acceptable unless something really ridiculous happens like it blow up. and also just make sure yourself is being absolute honest about the thing that your expecting to sell, don't have to candy coat, don't have to make it sounds like a broken garbage, just say what it is and make clear shot refer to the cosmetic condition, so even if the person really decide to play some dirty trick there will be only really little space available to them and give you a absolute advantage if you have to file a site-kick in complain.

right now there appear to be a type of person that intentionally looking for hole and crack to take a bit in refund policy trade policy of shopping category sites, and make living off it. so always be aware of suspicious individuals that is behaving unusual.
