Larger iPhone X Coming Next Year?

Couldn't help but notice the horizontal portion of the screen (or vertical in landscape mode) is smaller than my current iPhone 6s Plus. This means 16:9 content will actually look noticeably smaller, unless you expand and crop it.

I am confident Apple is going to release a larger version of it next year, with a form factor that is closer to the iPhone 6/6s/7/8 Plus, and the current iPhone X form factor will drop in price and becoming the small version. As someone who prefers a larger screen size over small form factor, I would be disappointed that I didn't wait.

Here are some screenshots of the iPhone Simulator and iPhone X simulated on top. When watching 16:9 video, it is clearly not an optimal experience either way.

Also noticed the landscape-mode home screen isn't working, like the smaller-size iPhones. At first I thought this was a bug in the Simulator, but it appears to be the case in one of the hands-on videos as well. Comment your thoughts below.

Yes, I strongly feel they will release a larger iPhone X next year. There's speculation that it will be 6.2" . My thoughts as to why it didn't happen this year was due to supply constraints.

There will be a plus version next year, count on it. Having an iPhone X in your hand, it's obviously smaller. Best way I can tell people to see the difference right now in hand compared to a plus model (6-7) go on amazon.. buy one of the cheap rubber iphone X cases. Hold it up against your plus model, smaller in overall case design and screen real estate. This is one of my main factors of waiting till next year to purchase any new iphones.

I'm starting to see why so many people are disappointed with yesterday's announcement. Apple does not have a no-compromise iPhone offering for the 2017-2018 buying season. And offering the same 1920x1080 non-native resolution on the iPhone 8 Plus that was introduced in 2014 on the iPhone 6 Plus...

Maybe better to skip my upgrade this year and wait.

Do you think the smaller version will drop in price as a new model like an XS or will they just bring out a bigger X and keep the current one?

I do expect the current form factor to drop in price, especially if the iPhone 8 does not get a successor. iPhone X this year is being treated as an early adopter product, with a high price to match.

I'm actually hoping for a smaller version with something like a 5" screen. The 5.8" is all but impossible to use one-handed. While the screen on the X is bigger diagonally and in a smaller foot print than the plus, that doesn't actually make it any easier to reach the far corners of the screen.

If they release a X plus and keep the X it would mean the X sort of gets a two year cycle then.

So what you're hoping for is a redesigned SE?

It does seem strange that Reachability is being dropped from the X, but that would fit with Apple's smaller offerings.

There will be a Plus version next year for sure. The home button iPhones will be phased out next year.
I think Apple simply could not make enough of them at one size let alone two.

My 7 Plus will be fine until then.

Not really hoping for an SE. More like hoping for something akin to the relationship the pluses and non-pluses have. The X has far more in common with the 8+ than the 8. I'd like to see a regular "8" version of the X. The SE on the other hand uses old technology and is made for people looking for a cheap iPhone.

If we start seeing leaks then you know it'll be true cause lets face it Apple just can't keep anything hidden anymore, if it is true I'm already sold on it as I was all for the X till I did a little research and realised the 8+ screen is bigger so I went and got me a 8+ yesterday and I couldn't be happier with it.

they'd be silly not to do away with the 7+/8+ form and make a X+. The X pretty much takes over the 6/7/8 sizes and the X+ would be the new 6+/7+/8+. I know I'd be in line for one.

If they get enough screens there will be no doubt be the 5.8 and 6.4

    And maybe one LCD display

Not sure if your posted these because you think the ppi numbers contradict what I said about the screen sizes?

It's the physical size (inches) of the screen which matters not the pixels. Objects or people in a movie or photo in landscape mode will appear smaller on the X because physically the screen is narrower on the X.

Divide the pixel dimension by the ppi to get the inches.

The greater ppi number means the X image will be theoretically sharper, but the difference will not be noticeable.

I told myself I would never want an iPhone as large as the 5.5 iPhone Plus, but next year, the 6.4 rumored OLED model, will be my number one pick.

By now we should know/expect Apple will ride the hype of this 5.8 form factor for at least two years before introducing something else.
