I guess now it doesn't look like they are coming out with an iPhone Nano. If they do, I will be surprised after not hearing any more about it in a while.

I sure do hope they do though. I need a new phone soon and I can't pay $70 a month for a regular iPhone. And I definitely don't need internet on the go because I am not usually traveling or in the car very long. I'm sure many other people aren't buying an iPhone for the same reasons.

There will be like a 5GB cap

There will likely be a data cap. Depends on your personal net usage habits and how strong the 3G coverage is in your area.

Of course there will be. And it'll be pointless to tether if you don't mind killing your phone and not having a connection because of terrible 3G service in some areas.

Groan. I predict that "new music" will be $1.39 per song and $13.99 for an album for at LEAST 3 months after albums are released.

Unless you just buy old music, this "DRM Free" change will effectively raise the price of new music 40% to near CD prices. Might as well buy the CD and get full bit rates.

Jim

I suspect that they'll offer music in various formats for the DRM-free music. AAC, Apple Lossless...but it still can't beat piracy.

Do you really think that at&t won't tie you into some data plan? I could see them doing something along the lines of the original iPhone plans...

yeah, will they offer drm-free songs to those of us who've already invested in music? seems like a rip off to pay even more just to get it free of drm. then it's aac anyway, so it's pretty limited to apple players...

I am excited about DRM-free. That will make backing up and restoring my music library much easier.

The prices going up is not cool, but I guess something has to give. As long as most songs remain 99 cents or less, it should be okay.

It would be cool to have some oldies priced at 49 or 59 cents though, but I bet they will go with a pricing structure of 79 cents, 99 cents, and $1.29 (oldies, mid level songs, newest hits) if they mess with the prices at all.

That would suck. Flixable pricing would just mean the good songs would be expensive, and the bad songs would be cheap.

Can't wait for tomorrow... my second time liveblogging!

Instead of spending $9.99 on an iTunes album at 128kbps I can just go buy it at Walmart, rip it and then sell it to a used CD shop...then that $9.99 album has only cost me $7 or $8 after I get my few bucks back at the used CD store...plus I am helping stimulate the economy and my local used record joint by selling him my CD for next to nothing!

I realize this sounds like a great business model but it's totally naïve. When you buy a CD, you're paying for the license to own the music, not the cheap plastic that it comes on. When you sell that CD, you're selling that license away. Your home-ripped copies become pirated (illegal) copies. Reselling them after you've made copies is no different from posting digital files to your website and charging people to download them: they're not your right to sell and keep at the same time because selling them is *forfeiting* your license to own them. Legally, you can sell them, or you can keep them. You can't do both.

If you don't care about this, then forget the Wal-Mart plan; you may as well just start downloading all your music illegally... the end result is the same. You, with illegal music.

um, even if there is an "iphone nano" it will most certainly include mobile internet and, thus, a data plan. Mark my words - Apple will not tomorrow, and not ever, introduce a "regular" (non-smart) phone.

i like the drm free idea, but variable pricing could be a pain. if they charge much more per album, i'll just be heading to the best buy down the street to buy cd's.

going backward in technology would be annoying.

iPhone notifications service

I would love to see the iPhone finally get background notifications and possibly iChat set up similarly to how blackberry has the blackberry messenger. That would be great. But I am sure it's doubtful.

MobileMe

i would love it if MobileMe had all the features they initially touted... especially the one that allowed you to email someone a link to a file on your idisk, so they could download it rather than log-jamming their email with huge files.

...someday

More iPhone sales!

Beyond this, Apple has also come to an agreement to deliver over-the-air downloads which will allow iPhone users to download music directly on their iPhones. These announcements could be announced at Macworld.

WOw about time! I thought this was already possible!?? HUGE undersight by Apple waiting so long, since the iPod could do this over WiFi for Starbucks. Nokia is already doing this in some regions over seas with specific branded models (3). Apple is VERY smart to get this happening.

get ready for an extra 29.99 on that data plan

I have the AT&T 3G Data service at $70 per month including tax for my MacBook. I also have an iPhone with service from them. My bill is $200 per month. Do you think that AT&T would wave the cancellation fee from the Computer Data Plan if I buy the tethering plan from them? I rarely use the data service on my MacBook, but when I need it, I NEED IT. So, I have to have some option as it's for work.

Would be nice of them to wave the $200 cancellation fee. The tethering will save me $40 and work fine. I just hope it's a wireless solution between the two. Using wifi attaching the two together would be the easiest.

I cannot wait for tomorrow. I am spending the day in front of the computer. No work or anything. Just watching the text streams and photos as they get posted here to MacRumors and a few of the other sites.

YES!!! Looking for lots of new goodies.

Theyve been trying to get it sorted for a long time now, the thing about licensing is BOTH sides have to agree to the terms, and the music industry isnt exactly fun to deal with.

Would it be a stretch to assume that Apple's going to announce new video cards for the Mac Pros? (or is that a given at the point, so it's not even mentioned, heh)

I would imagine that with Snow Leopard using the GPUs, there would be yet another reason for Apple to actually care about fast video cards (sadly, the only other real reason being Windows gaming  )

I agree, that is really wrong, and it is a big problem when they are going to allow more of it via this deal of the DRM free music. Lots more people will be giving their songs away for free, robbing money from the artists pockets. I like knowing 50 Cent is using my money on fast cars, fast women, and gold chains. I wouldn't want him to suffer... seriously though, it is wrong when people do this. And to brag about it amazes me.

I dont think that is worthy of MWSF. They can announce that anytime, or not announce it - and just release it.

Go Mini!!! It has been a long time, so each extra "confirmation" is a good sign! Just have to wait now to see the specs. Woohoo!!! :D

Fingers Crossed For the new iTunes prices and DRM Free!!! :D

Same here, but we can keep dreaming on that.

These are the same rumors tossed out before every keynote.

Like Schiller is just going to say, "Oh yeah! We decided to give you all the little things you've been wanting for years with no hassle."
