Late 2013 MBP and running 4K/5K display?

This looks really promising! I think I'll be ordering mine next week and keep my fingers crossed that it all works out. 🤞

@ARK Do you happen to know or would you be able to look up what model did you get? I've read there has been an internal update at LG in 2019 which fixed a couple of issues with USB-C/Thunderbold connectivity. The one I'm able to purchase on this side of the planet is 27MD5KL-B.

The reason I am also asking this is because the latest model comes with Thunderbolt 3 cable (2 m) and USB-C cable (1.5 m). So I'd probably have to get another a Thunderbolt 2 or Apple MiniDisplay cable bedsides the Apple DisplayPort to thunderbolt adapter.

Sure this is a 27MD5KLB-B though this setup did also work on a 27MD5KLA that I tried as well. I moved to the B model because that supported the USBC connection so my wife could use it with her 12” MacBook.

The kicker here is that I bought both of these monitors through eBay. The A model as used for $550 shipped and the B model an open box for $630.

I’m planning to sell the 27” A model on eBay since I’m using the B. It worked fine with the late 2013 though.

@ARK I also have MBP 15" 2013 but with Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB only. How do you think will the 27MD5KLB-B work for me either with 60HZ or it's only option for GT 750M? Can you check it please?

I wouldn't have high hopes for it to run at 60GHz, maybe at lower resolution 3840 x 2160 (163ppi)?

Does anyone have issues with LG UltraFine 5k not waking up when connected to a MBP 15 Late 2013? Every time this occurs to me, I have to restart my MacBook and then it works flawlessly.

(I'm running macOS Catalina 10.15.7)

Sorry its taken so long to post. I honestly dont know but I gather that the GT 750M is automatically turning on to drive the 27MD5KLB-B.
